I'm not even close to a Bolts fan, but it still blows my mind that Vinny will no longer be with the Tampa organization. It feels unnatural to me. I still don't know why they are buying him out. He's still a very good player and big centers with skill are really hard to come by. Like you know how many teams would kill for a 6'2 220lb Center who has tons of offensive skill and still fairly young? I would love Edmonton to get him but it'll probably be Montreal. He did waive his NTC in 2009 to Montreal but the NHL nixed the trade. Montreal is lacking in size and Lecavalier is from Montreal and once already waived his NTC there. TB has always been my number two team and its a shame he got bought out before DiPietro

Which is funny because Bettman said the future of Phoenix depends on Glendale and time is running out today. Hopefully the two longest reoccurring news items will finally be over this or next week.

FLAMES TRADE TANGUAY, SARICH TO AVS FOR JONES, O'BRIEN
The Calgary Flames have traded forward Alex Tanguay and defenceman Cory Sarich to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward David Jones and defenceman Shane O'Brien.
"This trade adds needed size up front and grit on the back end while also allowing us to get younger." said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster in a statement. "We like the fact that Jones plays a north-south game, drives hard to the net, kills penalties and is a right hand shot. O'Brien is a hard guy to play against, knows how to get under the skin of the opposition and stands up for his teammates. We are pleased to add both of these players to our organization."
Details to follow.

Details to follow. Shedding some more salary I see. Well, Avs fans can bust out their Tanguay jerseys they've had buried in their closets. They also get a pretty solid D-man back with a little bit of upside left. Good for them, I guess.

That guy has injured Hall, Hemsky, and RNH the past three years. Shane O' Brien sounds scary. The Oilers have constantly been hurt by Calgarian defenseman who are over 6'0 and 200lbs.

After realizing who is most likely to be the first pick in the 2014 entry draft and researching more on the Calgary and Colorado trade. It's clear King wants to pick Reinhart first overall. It'll be the feel good story of the draft that he will be drafted to the Flames and excel with them like his dad

Letang turns down 8 year 56 million dollars a year from the Penguins. Yup he turned down 7 million dollars every year. What the f***? The man wants some of that Toronto money. If Toronto is willing to pay more then this feels surreal for me when In the 90's and early 00's when athletes would leave Canadian teams to join American teams to get paid the big bucks. Thank god for the salary cap and Canadian dollar worth more or on par with the American dollar depending on the month when it used to be 40 or 50 cents worth less. But if he thinks he's worth more then Suter or Weber or on par then f*** that guy. He has Crosby and Malkin who are generational talents to inflate his numbers and the playoffs really exposed on how weak he really is on defense. Most players are willing to take discounts to play in Pittsburghbecause they know they will play for those talents and how the Penguins will be constant contenders. Earlier today Kunitz who had a career year and only chose to take a annual 100K range when he could of easily commanded a 1 million or 1.5 million raise from the Penguins or any other team. At least with Jordan Staal he had a strong playoff run in 2012 and felt like he was ready to be a #1 or #2 center on another team. Worse Letang is doing this with another year on his deal

REPORT: SENS CAPTAIN ALFREDSSON PLANNING ANOTHER NHL SEASON TSN.ca Staff 6/28/2013 11:45:16 AM
Text Size Ottawa Senators fans will be celebrating more than Canada Day this weekend, as Swedish television station SVT World reports that team captain Daniel Alfredsson will be playing another season in the nation's capital.
"I've never been so tired after a season earlier, even though it was so short," Alfredsson told the station. "I needed some time to think about the future, but the important thing is that the urge is there."
Alfredsson returned to Sweden with his family following their postseason exit. He met with Senators general manager Bryan Murray prior to leaving and said he would likely give him a decision on his future by Draft Day.
"I came home to Sweden on Monday and felt I can do this one more summer," he said. "I feel a little excited to get going and start exercising.
"The body has felt good lately. I missed a game this season and that was because I had a cold. In this way it has been positive, I have been freshened and it has affected my decision."
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com spoke with Murray Friday morning, who said he has yet to hear from Alfredsson or his agent, J.P. Barry.
The 40-year-old Swede, who becomes an unrestricted free agent this year, led the Senators in scoring through the playoffs with four goals and 10 points and was third during the regular season with 10 goals and 16 assists.

Per Darren Dreger: Sounds like the Bruins are making progress on resigning Rask, Horton and Bergeron. Peverly likely to be traded
