If there has, it's escaping me right now.
The endless talk about the Cena Heel turn always makes me think about this; has there been a heel who not only thinks they're vindicated in what they're doing, but mistakenly believes their immoral, evil douchebaggery is appreciatedby the fans? Who cuts inspiring fired up face promos before attacking people for no reason, bullying the weak, cheating to win? Who compliments the crowd instead of taking cheap heat?
Has this character existed? They must have, right?

Kurt Angle essentially invented and perfected that character.

Obligatory, Sheamus post.
Also, more seriously, Hollywood Hogan had some of this.

Early Big Johhny's GM run qualifies as well.

I think it was Bret Hart who said in his book "Every heel should think they are justified in what they do.".

There are elements of it in William Regal in 2001. He would wave and smile to the fans regardless of the deafening boos.

Honky Tonk Man always thanked the crowds for being a beautiful audience, didn't he?
Waylon Mercy was at least a pleasant fellow before a match started.
I think Regal was just giving the audience a Royal entrance

Bischoff always does his "and we love you too!" schtick, and acts like the "good guy" sometimes.

I always got the impression that Honky Tonk Man thought he was a face. I just figured he thought the fans loved him for being a cool, cocky rock'n'roller who played by his own rules, kind of like Elvis.

Diesel after his heel turn in early 1996. Where he would act like a douche to the faces but fist pump the fans if they had a black glove on.

Kurt Angle essentially invented and perfected that character. Ahem... You've been a great audience! The Rock's people's champion was originally meant this way as well. In the same vein Alberto's Delusional Champion of the People from the few weeks he did it. also I'm absolutely positive the Miz was in his original Hoo-rah! phase.

Olympic Kurt Angle had the face vignettes and everything but he cussed out crowds about a month into his run so I doubt he was thinking like a face.

Bret Hart in 1997-he was still a hero in every country except America, and was pointing out how corrupt and immoral the US was, compared to crime-free, socialized-medicine Canada.
Bob Backlund-he disputed that he ever lost the title to the Sheik since his towel was thrown in for him, and in his mind should still be the champion and the hero of the company.
The Right to Censor-it was for our own good.

Jericho would do this in WCW. When he heard boos he would say "thankyou" with a big smile on his face. He'd demand title shots and use loopholes in WCW rulebooks because he thought the fans deserved to have him as their champion. When he joined WWF his first promo implied that he had come from WCW to save WWF fans from the boredom of watching the mediocre material that they had suffered through without him.
