They deserve a proper conclusion. Hell in a Cell is not tooooo far away. Wasn't Night of Champions where they stopped? It's going be like they never left off in the PPV calendar. Yeah they ended at NOC's, right before the HIAC PPV when they really should of had a final blow off match to the series -- instead it felt rather flat.

In WWE, it seems like the bigger jerk you are, the bigger a babyface you're meant to be. That's because the man who signs the checks somehow sees those things as real life admirable qualities. the fans told him they were in the Attitude Era

It wasn't the setup or start of a turn. It was a turn.
Hell after the match during his promo he said "Lets hear it for the new champ!" and "Once again, lets hear it for the new champ!"

That's because the man who signs the checks somehow sees those things as real life admirable qualities. the fans told him they were in the Attitude Era True. But rather than look at that as a microcosm of the time, he's went to the well over and over again today with a dated model, inventing dickhead babyfaces somehow targeted at children, whilst simultaneously promoting anti-bullying and supposed tolerance. The Attitude Era worked because it was an age of angst and mistrust of the system itself; and while more kids actually watched than today, it was a mature (well, immature , really) product promoted and served up to a group of angry young people who despised and mistrusted authority, power and wealth -- the primary targets of said babyface's wrath in those days. Today, the average heel is a hopeless buffoon; a veritable Wile E. Coyote. And we're supposed to eat up these heelish babyface antics and cheer on the Road Runner, just because. Being a dick really only works as a positive trait if the person's crimes you're tormenting vastly demands its use. And that's why, unlike Attitude, it often fails or backfires today. That said, my comment was more a knock on Vince's real life mindset, and not the business model. He's a real-life bullyish dickhead who picks on certain flawed or weak loyalists within his own company. My theory is that Vince loves Sheamus et al because he somehow sees this alpha male archetype character as just and admirable. Because that's how he'd see himself.

LOL when he booted AJ's title. Excellent. They're firmly headed in the right direction with him. A heel Del Rio who does not talk about destiny but is a delusional "champion of the people" who has a vicious moveset that consists of a variation of stiff kicks, enzuigiris and does not focus on working on the arm. Let's see where it goes from here.

I thought Del Rio did some of his best work in a while in this match. We didn't go into it necessarily knowing this turn would happen, and even though the Chicago crowd was firmly behind the champ throughout the match, it was really the story that was being told by the strengths of both wrestlers. Ziggler's selling and Del Rio's kicking are both really their showcase talents in the ring, and it was amazing to see when you focus a match's story line on a wrestlers strengths like that. In fact I didn't really think it needed that heel validating promo at the end by Del Rio to cement the turn, he could have waited until today to say he persevered and took down a very difficult to defeat champion thanks to the strength of the chicanos in the audience, distorting what took place during the match and making it seem like he was the underdog with the never say die attitude.
Lastly what was up with Ricardo's douchey get up last night? I should have known the heel turn was coming the moment I saw that.

I'm surprised they're turning Del Rio. I thought they wanted someone to kinda replace Mysterio or something which is why he was turned in the first place according to stuff online. Anyways, it's WWE's fault that he wasn't a huge success as a babyface as they did little to change up his character from EVIL rich guy to good guy. All he basically did was be nicer to his ring announcer and maybe a few other minor things. They needed to change him up more than what they did.
As for Ziggler...I can't see him being any kind of a sympathetic character here. Personally, I don't think he would be all that likable as a babyface from a character standpoint.

I thought it felt like an old fashioned double turn last night.
Which means tonight on RAW, we'll have Cole talk about how Dolph is a bastard and Del Rio is the Champion of the People!

My theory is that Vince loves Sheamus et al because he somehow sees this alpha male archetype character as just and admirable. Because that's how he'd see himself. in my opinion it took a long time before Austin's dickishness was justified by Vince's actions. In fact, Vince really didn't get that bad until Austin softened up enough to be willing to help him. while it's easy to feel sorry for Wile E. you can't overlook what happens if he wins. The other main character gets eaten. It's like if Sheamus doesn't go after Sandow. Then Sandow takes up tons of the audience's time and they don't get to see more wrestling matches. as for the thing with Alberto, yes he was a jerk, but still you can feel for the guy. As I recall Jack Swagger was constantly targeting his ankle even outside of matches and it was because of that that he lost the title to Ziggler. Then Ziggler is put out by Swagger forcing Alberto to win a shot he already had. And then he spends weeks dealing with his muscle.

So if Del Rio's a heel again, and he's champion again that means he can feud with Sheamus again.

So, the OP of this thread didn't like Del Rio to begin with and, hey. FAN always makes threads about babyfaces being jerks.
Let's keep it rollin'. I'm guessing a double turn IS coming, though. Unless it was just another thing to make heels look like the biggest losers because WWE does that.

It was awesome! It's given me a new found love for Del Rio. Don't piss that guy off! He was ICE COLD.
Dolph stole Alberto's title when he was injured. An Alberto never forgets. THAT was payback!

He came across as a dick... A MAJOR dick. A heelish dick. The Sheamus Strategy. Sheamus comes off as more goofy when he does it, like he's just having fun. Del Rio's on the otherhand was just plain malicious and sadistic.

I hope this means we get more Sheamus/ADR matches.

I haven't seen the match yet but if Del Rio was ruthless within the rules and beat Ziggler down while focusing on his head....so what? Ziggler screwed him by cashing in when he was hurting, so why should I care that Del Rio beat the crap out of him coming off a concussion? If Ziggler was cleared to wrestle then I fail to see how it's bad. It would be like if Ziggler had a shoulder injury and getting mad at ADR for targeting the arm/shoulder for his submission.
I do agree that the Ziggler title "run" was pathetic. People have just now forgotten his laughable title win vs. Edge and how idiotic that was. So to have him win while cashing in MITB on a hurt wrestler, then immediately go out with a concussion, only to then come back and immediately get waxed and lose....that's just sad. Did the guy have a successful title defense? Hell, stripping him of the belt and awarding it to Del Rio makes more sense.
