Watching a replay of the O's game, I had honestly forgotten that the Royals were a team. Do the people in KC remember?

Braun cut a deal with MLB, according to TJ Quinn. @buster_ESPN if true A-Rod should never play again. Worse than Pete Rose. lol what This is why I love baseball writers. It's this self-righteous indignation combined with either nostalgia goggles for a by-gone era that never existed or willful ignorance. Saw some of them on twitter wanting Braun banned for life

How many fans actually care if a player did steroids I do. To me,cheating is cheating. I won't say it's worse than betting like Pete Rose did but to me personally,it's close. The stuff is banned for a reason and if players feel the need to do it anyway,I support any punishment MLB throws at them. They get no sympathy from me. I don't care if it is a player on my favorite team. I know cheating has been going on forever and even if they do suspend multiple players from this current scandal,it will still continue. However if MLB can derail part of the problem,I will applaud them. Personally,I think Braun is getting off light since he lied about it multiple times but at least he is getting punished.

Speaking as a life long Brewers fan, I'm pretty annoyed and disappointed at the whole thing. Especially the lying, the denials, and the overall phoniness. If I were a player in that locker room, I'd be pissed -- and I'm glad the early reports say they are. He's this franchise's Cal Ripken, Derek Jeter, etc. As a small market team, the commitment they made to him with (essentially) a lifetime contract that takes up almost 1/4 of the payroll for a while is huge and something this team never done before.
Why the f*** a 28-29 year old man feels the need to mess around with this bullshit is beyond me. Not to mention how universally stupid it is with the testing they have now. I guess I can understand a guy like A-Rod doing this. He's older. He's got a massive contract. He's in a media nightmare of a market and he's doing anything he can do to hold on. It doesn't make it right, but I can understand it more. Braun is just a moron. He was putting up monster numbers before his failed test anyway. So....what's the deal?
The fanbase in Milwaukee will, most likely, circle the wagons around Braun. It's an extremely loyal bunch. Hell, Paul Molitor was on coke for a good amount of the 80s and they loved him until he turned the team down to be the manager. They'll forgive like he's Jason Giambi or Andy Pettitte in the best case scenario. And some of the old school fans will always have that disappointment lingering. The reality is that Braun won't be going anywhere and will probably be the highlight of some awful teams on the horizon. I only hope now this opens a spot for Khris Davis to play out the rest of the season in the outfield to see if he can really hit in the majors. He's been murdering minor league pitching the last few years.
Overall, I'm one that very much does care if someone is caught using PEDs. It's against the rules for a reason. But the difference is that baseball needs to stop rewarding players that get caught. Look at Melky Cabrera. Goes to San Francisco on a one year/$6 million deal. Has an MVP season, but gets nailed for PEDs. What happens in the offseason? Goes to Toronto on a two year/$16 million deal.
Alex Rodriguez failed a test back in 2003. He's failed tests since. What happens? Half a billion dollars worth of contracts. That's bullshit.

Honestly, Major League Baseball made its own bed with this PED mess. They were all too willing to turn a blind eye to rampant steroid use when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were launching bombs out of the park and reinvigorated the sport after the strike. Now Bud Selig has gone all hardline on this because he's going to retire/die soon and wants to be remembered as the commissioner who was tough on steroids. Sorry Selig, but you'll be forever remembered as the steroid commissioner.
And they're not the only ones to blame. The owners ignored it for too long. The MLBPA ignored it for too long. The baseball writers and sports media didn't bother making a big fuss about it, giving it some token coverage here and there. Hell, these PED's weren't even banned from baseball until well after they became extremely widespread. And in a lot of cases they did have legitimate, prescribed uses like recovering from injury faster (and in that case, not only do I not have a problem with their use, but think it should be encouraged). I don't think there was a single team that didn't have at least one juicer. I'd be surprised if that was the case now.
But people in every facet of the game and the business of the game had their part to play in creating and maintaining this culture of PED use. The only people in a place of moral highground are the players who remained clean their entire careers and tried to get their teammates to stop. But I don't know who these players actually are. There are only two current players in the entire league I'd be genuinely surprised if they juiced, and those are Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter. Mind you, that's a Yankee fan bias, but yeah.

I'm extremely disappointed in Ryan Braun, a guy I defended after his speech in spring training a few years back because I believed him.

To be fair, I'd be shocked if I found out Ramon Santiago was taking PEDs, just because it means he sucks even more than he already does without them, which seems very very unlikely to me.

Man, Mike Greenberg is about to turn into the Incredible Hulk while talking about Braun's statement. He is f***ing pissed at Braun for that statement, and he's right to call him out on that statement. I'm on Greeny's side when it comes to this, but it's kind of funny to see how pissed he is. I'm extremely disappointed in Ryan Braun, a guy I defended after his speech in spring training a few years back because I believed him. How about the guy in your sig who said he'd put his salary on Ryan Braun's innocence?

Watching a replay of the O's game, I had honestly forgotten that the Royals were a team. Do the people in KC remember? Experts in pre-season: Royals will challenge Detroit for the division title this year. The White Sox will not be as good as they were last year. Well, one out of two isn't bad. Anybody want a shortstop that can't throw, and feels like he can only hit according to his placement in the line-up?

The Yankees are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Cubs for a mid-level prospect.

Well, Rodgers made a bet with Boyz II Men he'd a wear 49ers jersey if they lost the opener and he hasn't done it yet. If he won't keep a promise to the 1992 Grammy Award Winner for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, I don't think he'd keep his promise to the American people.

Alfonso Soriano is not going to bring the Yankees over the top, but I think... like, everybody knows that already.
Strange that the Yankee management shell out millions for lousy players like Vernon Wells and eventually, Alfonso Soriano, but couldn't bring back quality guys like Russell Martin, Eric Chavez and/or playoff God Raul Ibanez. It was this backward planning that led the Yankees to this lame season that they're having. Oh, and the injuries.
The right decision for Cashman and Co. is to sell and try and get as many plus prospects they could get from trading Cano, Kuroda, Hughes and Chamberlain. The team is far too broken down and deficient to try and squeeze out a 1995-esque run to the playoffs. Then again, the top-shelf Yankee brass wouldn't allow that to happen. Just the fact that they're 5 over .500 with a negative run differential let folks know that this team isn't going anywhere.

Even as a Sox fan, I think I'd be terribly disappointed if Jeter was nailed for PED use. Despite the fact he has brutally and repeatedly kicked my team in the nuts in big situations for the last 17 seasons, I have a rediculous amount of respect for Jeter. I'll even go as far to admit that uniform aside, he's one of my favorite players Ive ever watched.
Granted, Id put the chances of him using PED's at about 2%

Oh and another guy I'd be surprised if he used was CJ Wilson. Mainly because he's outspokenly straight edge.
As for Alfonso Soriano coming back, hey at least he'll be a better DH than Travis "Mr. April" Hafner.

Dodgers purchased the contract of RHP Carlos Marmol from Double-A Chatanooga.
Yoenis Cespedes (wrist) is not in the A's starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Astros.
The Cuban outfielder hasn't appeared in a game for the A's since participating in the 2013 Home Run Derby at Citi Field in New York
