That was really the thing with George. Ruthless business practices and throwing out tons of money in bad contracts aside, every move he made was to make the Yankees win. If he was alive, A-Rod would be playing if he was able to play, that albatross of a contract be damned. Hal Steinbrenner doesn't have his father's killer instinct or desire to win. He's just another suit who cares more about money (which they have more of than ANY American sports franchise and every worldwide sports franchise after Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Barcelona) than winning. As a lifelong fan, this seriously pisses me off.

Really, between the lifetime ban being bandied about by Selig and the Yankees posturing to keep him off the field as long as possible, it's really low-grade how they're so surreptitiously trying to railroad Alex Rodriguez out of the game of baseball. It's as if they're blaming him because the idiot Yankee brass decided to compete against themselves and give him that ridiculous contract.

Andy McCullough @mcculloughsl In Feb, NJ AG reprimanded Gross for failure to "ensure proper patient treatment involving the prescribing of hormones including steroids."
This is amazing. This story is just gold all over.

Oh, wow. Tim Hudson just had his Achilles stomped on while covering 1st. This looks very serious. Just saw the replay of it. Seeing him get spiked like that made me cringe. I really hope he's alright, but it doesn't look that way.

To recap the Jays' banner week:
- Swept at home by the Rays - Beaten 14-5 by the Dodgers on Monday - Blow a five-run lead to lose the Dodgers last night - Colby Rasmus completely misjudges a game-ending fly in the 9th, resulting in a blown save and subsequent five-run 10th, as the Dodgers sweep the series - Learn tonight that Brandon Morrow is out for the season

Random theory I was told: Jeter is retiring after this season, but won't announce it in fear that it'll overshadow Mariano's retirement.

Eric Young, that asshole. Uh, did you read the story. He showed class about it and was even thanked by the Braves for his concern.

Ryan Braun said in a statement Thurdsay that he is not allowed to address his 65-game PED suspension.
Alex Rodriguez had his quad examined by a Yankees team doctor on Thursday in Tampa, Florida.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman told the media that A-Rod's quad has improved but that he'll be limited to light conditioning for now and won't play in a rehab game until early August.
