Sean Penn isn't beloved. He's still a douche who sees himself as a modern day Che Guevara. His Falklands comments were obnoxious. Quite a few celebs came out with bloody stupid comments about that situation.

Bret Hart cheats on his wife and admits it in his book= People are okay with this because Bret wrestles well Chris Benoit commits a double murder suicide= Some people still fans of his because he wrestled well CM Punk calls man a bunch of names related to his sexuality= People accept Punk bashing gays. Dynamite Kid bullies wrestlers backstage and threatens to shoot wife= People are okay with this Jerry Lawler allegedly has sex with a minor= People are generally okay with Jerry and still support him But if Triple H beats Brock Lesnar he is worse than Hitler, Osama Bin Laden and Satan combined. Expect CM Punk apologized for it,There are still many many many fans who won't watch Chris Benoit matches; I've yet to come across anyone who is okay with DK being a bully and threatening to kill his wife not to mention and the guy can be seen a poster boy for what steroid abuse to do a man. As for Lawler while the guy might come across a creepy old man, the girl who had made those allegations admitted she made them up so its rather a moot point. Wasn't there an article about this a long time ago? there was; this one's a sequel of sorts. to be honest, nobody's ever really forgiven Vince Neil for what he did. he's still "that guy who killed somebody and only got 30 days because he's a rockstar". pretty much the posterboy for the ugly side of the cult of celebrity. even he acknowledges it's f***ed up that he only did 30 days. for him it's more like "the law was too easy on him for some dumb reason and he'll never hear the end of it". Well It doesn't help that two Mötley Crüe box sets were named Music to Crash Your Car to vol 1 and 2 and Neil has been busted over past few years for drunk driving on more than one occasion so as someone who has been hit by a drunk driver I really don't have a problem with this.

Michael Vick? Chris Brown? Still known for their awfulness, but not hated by as many anymore.... He's been forgiven? I missed that memo. He's only done 1 or 2 indy/direct-to-DVD movies in the last several years, and MACHETE KILLS is his first appearance in a major movie since he directed APOCALYPTO. And I half expect that movie to be protested for his involvement in it. His career was killed by those voicemails (moreso than the drunk driving/racial yelling). He might be coming out of it now, but I'd be surprised if he ever achieved the kind of leading man role he had in the past again. He did The Beaver which although a flop wasn't direct to DVD it did only gross 958,000 USD total but I think the bad story is what cost them not the leading actors. He did Get The Gringo which had a limited release and lost a lot of money also. Machete kills will be an interesting one for him but with so many stars in that film there's less pressure for him to be a big box office draw. I don't think he'll ever regain his popularity due to losing his looks but he's still generally forgiven from what I've seen and heard. You might be able to do this sort of article with pro wrestlers You'd run out of people. That's all well and good except: A) The charges against Jerry Lawler were dropped. B) Most people accept Dynamite Kid is a dick. C) CM Punk apologised. We all make mistakes. D) Most people have not, nor ever will, forgive Chris Benoit for what he did. But yeah, except for all that, great post.

Yeah and Punk has lent support to the LGBT community even before that incident and had one of the classiest apologies manning up he was wrong and didn't make any execused why. I can personally echo the resentments of Chris Benoit. I'm from Edmonton his home town and Benoit is a dirty word. When Cena did the crippler crossface to Punk on the mainevent on Raw nobody made a Benoit chant and it the arena got awkwardly silent on a hot main event. Also last Smackdown in Edmonton a few months ago they showed the Raw recap of Ryback delivering the promo of taking Cena to hell and saying things like say hello to Satan, say hello to Mephistopheles, say hello to Beelzebub, I said loudly say hello to Chris Benoit and everyone in my row, the two rows ahead, and the row behind gave me a dirty look except for my brother and my friend who thought it was hysterical,

The only ones I will give you are Punk and Bret, most people seem to not like any of those people anymore. I haven't seen anyone defend Dynamite Kid and Lawler is practically vilified on a daily basis on this forum.

Roman Polanski could be another example. Beloved by many in Hollywood, despite being a rapist, and a coward.
John Galiano expressed support for Jews being shoved into ovens by Nazis, but the fashion establishment seems to have forgiven him.

Karl Malone got a 13 year old pregnant when he was 19 years old in college and provided nothing in child support. Statutory rape and stiffing your offspring...classy.

You might be able to do this sort of article with pro wrestlers Call me a cynic, but I'm sure that many athletes rampantly cheat on their wives. Not all admit to it like Bret did, and I respect him for that. Even though the way he justified it (basically "atleast I was only addicted to women, not drugs or alcohol") was a bit troubling. And atleast he didn't beat the shit out of his wife like Stone Cold Steve Austin did.

I haven't seen anyone on this board or any other board I've been a member of defend Dynamite Kid. Most agree that he's a shit human being.
Also, Chris Brown doesn't belong on this list because everyone knows about the incident and hate him for it. This list is for things you might not have known about.

Yeah, you figure him RAPING AND KILLING A GIRL IN 1990 would afford him a place on his list...

I think in many cases it's a matter of people NEVER KNOWING about it, not necessarily that they forgot or forgave. Also, Charles Dickens doesn't really fit in with the contemporary examples. I would imagine the vast majority of us today know Charles Dickens simply as the author of A Tale of Two Cities, David Copperfield, A Christmas Story, and Great Expectations. Since he lived during the 19th century, I doubt the average person knows much more about him other than some of the things he's written.

Hollywood's complacency in that sick f*** Polanski's actions is one of the reasons I don't take the Academy Awards seriously anymore and hope the whole Hollywood enterprise collapses on itself. it's a f***ing relic ruled over by a bunch of perverted old men.

To be fair, most of the forum probably doesn't think Lawler is a pedophile. It's joked about, but just that, joked. We don't like him because he's terrible at his job.

We don't like him because he's terrible at his job. personally I never put any stock in those rumours myself. Lawler's a bit of a perv, but not that much. and everyone who makes fun of him does it because he's re-writing the definition of the term "phoning it in".
