I always considered the cartoon a totally separate continuity. I think that's the only way you can go. Because the cartoon happens right after the first movie, and continues their adventures. But the second movie states right off the bat that after Gozer, they got sued by the city and had to go out of business. Though they mentioned Vigo in at least one episode of The Real Ghost Busters... it was one of the later seasons... but it happened I forget exactly what... they used the slime for something I haven't watched it in a while though it is on my Ghostbusters 2 DVD along with the Episode where they mention Gozer and why the Cartoon used the multicolored suits instead of the movie versions

The Titanic scene always creeped me out. I always like it, though the OCD part of me goes nuts over the inaccuracy of the depicted damage to it.

Good to see the GB2 love here I notice even though this movie gets a lot of flack it has a lot who are quick to come to it's defense.

The mood slime I recall was a more yellowish/golden color in the cartoon for some reason.

One criticism about the movie I don't get is that it's more childish than the first. Maybe it's not as adult-oriented but it still has quite a bit of subtle adult humor in it and in some ways it's arguably scarier than the first. The first one had the Terror Dogs, the librarian ghost, the zombie cabbie, etc. but GB2 had Vigo, ghost Janosz snatching Oscar and the rotted heads on the stakes. I swear that part made me leave the room every time I watched the movie as a kid.

I think both are equally entertaining and have a lot of cool things in them. To me neither is better or worse than the other, both are just as entertaining to me.

While Ghostbusters II may have ignored the cartoon in certain aspects it seemed to acknowledge it in other ways. Fr example Slimer was hanging out at the Firehouse as if he were their pet like in the cartoon. Also the whole thing in the beginning where they were doing kid's birthday parties and actually played the Ghostbusters Theme on a boom box sort of broke the 4th wall acknowledging how Ghostbusters had become something for kids. Though in the movies the kids disliked them.

Though in the movies the kids disliked them. Ungrateful little yuppie larva, after everything the Ghostbusters did for that city, they should worship Peter, Egon, Ray, and Winston.

I taped this off the Disney Channel (believe it or not) and must have watched it about a thousand times as a kid. The first one probably is a better movie, but Ghostbusters 2 will always be my favorite.

It kinda screws with the continuity of the cartoon. It's explained in one episode of the cartoon that the movies are adaptations of the "real life" events that occured in the cartoon. My only problem with Ghostbusters II is that it feels like a retread of the original. The "back in business" montage is pretty much a direct lift of the "Ghostbusters are here" montage from the first film, right down to using footage from a deleted scene to pad it out. That and that there's no real explaination for why the Ghostbusters are in the state they're in, doing kids parties, hosting crappy cable shows, when the movie begins. Tell you the part I always find creepy? When Janosz vists Dana during the blackout, she gets rid of him, and as he walks down the hall his eyes light up like flashlights.

So this happened... Wait, is that Evan Stone as Venkman? It sure is. You really know your stuff. Apparently, he also played Vince McMahon in a WWE porn parody. I kind of want to see this.
