When I woke up this morning and I saw the trends on Twitter I actually thought it was a joke. You know? "Ho ho imagine Ben Affleck as Batman! Wouldn't that be a laugh!" And then I realised that Ben Affleck actually IS playing Batman.
I'm underwhelmed to say the least. Yeah Affleck has improved over the years but nothing about him screams Batman to me. Whenever I read people discussing or listing who should be playing the next Batman, not one time did I see Ben Affleck's name pop up anywhere. I'm willing to wait until we see a trailer or some pics before I make any more assumptions on how he will play the role. For all we know he could be better than Keaton or Bale.
And before anyone else says that everyone complained about Heath Ledger being The Joker, let me remind you that Heath Ledger never made Gigli.

One of the quotes on Twitter ...except Batman Forever didn't kill the franchise... Batman Forever made a ton of money for one... and for two Batman Forever was Awesome Not to mention remember how that "gay cowboy actor" was going to ruin the Joker/Batman Franchise? ...yeah. Only difference is ledger was really good in brokeback mountain, affleck has the acting ability of a wet garbage bag.

Wow. Warner Brothers really has no clue how to make money with their properties. This is FAIL. How will this not make money? Affleck had a huge resurgence in the past couple of years and is a marquee name. I'd say if anything, it won't make money because if it's anything like Man of Steel its budget's going to be inflated to the point of requiring a metric assload of money to break even. And judging by the huge drop that had between weeks they're probably going to have a hard time selling people on a sequel.

Affleck is good but I'm having trouble imagining him as Batman. Guess I'll wait till the movies actually come out before I judge him. My thoughts exact. I like Affleck (more as a director than an actor, but he's a good actor too) though, so I'm gonna be optimistic about this going in. The only thing that'll properly ruin this now is if they don't cast Bryan Cranston as Luthor. Ya know, I always thought if they were going to reboot Batman, that Cranston would play the perfect Commissioner Gordon, as he already kind of did in the animated "Year One" movie, and he killed it. But then you bring him up as Lex Luthor, and I think "OK, a very charismatic Heisenberg sans facial hair and glasses"...HOLY F***ING SHIT THAT WOULD BE AMAZING.

Internet nerd rage jumped the shark years ago. Thing is, this news is getting rage from people who are not online nerds. Like......my brother is complaining bitterly about it. Trust me, he ain't a nerd. And neither are the friends on his FB complaining. And at some point he was psyched and then turned negative. Weird..... .....he's my problem, I'll deal with him...

I would rather have Affleck behind the camera for a Batman film but he's a great choice. Also it means that Kevin Smith might get a role which would be amazing.
However what about JGL as Robin, I thought he was the next Bats?

If Ben Affleck is Batman does that mean Matt Damon is Robin now?

From what I hear, he and Affleckdont hang out as much because of Garner, I think she disapproves of the pot use.

What happened to the Justice League movie they were supposed to do? Did anybody really think that even had a chance of happening? I would have liked to believe it I guess.

Batman/Superman is going to be the lead in to the Justice League movie I believe.
Unless you mean the Justice League Dark movie in which case I don't know if there's been much news on it.

I just meant any Justice League movie. I'm too stupid to know what Justice League Dark is. Unless...is it where all the characters are black?

I'm too stupid to know what Justice League Dark is. Unless...is it where all the characters are black? No.... It's basically a newer team of DC's Vertigo-esque characters. Dark as in "dark natured", magical, weird characters. Swamp Thing, Deadman, John Constantine, Zatanna, Madame Xanadu..... Guillermo del Toro has been in talks to make a movie of them and has actually written a script already. It's believed it's going to actually happen. I hope. Wikipedia is your friend.

I know what you're saying, and it's the same thing on my Facebook: not everybody going on about this is a "nerd", however one chooses to define that. However, I still personally categorize stuff like this as "nerd rage", because, again, it just plays into every Comic Book Guy "WORST. THING. EVER." stereotype. Plus, in the age of the 'Net and mainstream superhero movies, it seems everybody's at least somewhat on the nerd train...again, however that's legitimately defined.

I'll agree that Daredevil was a mediocre flick (and honestly the director's cut isn't really that much better, it's still just an ok movie), but I thought Ben did well with what he had to work with there. People act like that movie was so terrible, and I guess that comes down to personal choice, but there wasn't anything really egregious in that like say a Batman and Robin etc to be like "Affleck was terrible as that one superhero character ten years ago."
Also, the extreme view on Man of Steel I still find a lil odd. Ya see people decrying that it wasn't a Superman movie.. I'll grant you it wasn't a Reeve movie, but as far the character of Superman, it was just a different version.
As has been said too, it's pretty clear this is going to be a bombastic actioner for the most part, so Ben won't really have to get into any real character nuance for Batman in this one.

We should all give this upcoming portrayal the colorful moniker of Batfleck.

Hating Ben Affleck seems to be a thing people just do for some reason.
I get some people really don't like him, but it seems almost like a meme at this point.
