Part of me wants Kevin Smith to take this over. Cast Jason Lee as Nightwing, and set the film in the Viewaskewniverse, complete with Jay and Bob in a supporting role. Perhaps even Jay getting inspired to emulate Batman and Superman by becoming a real-life Bluntman and Chronic.

I've no issue with him, I like Dogma and Sum of all fear is a good film, even Daredevil isnt bad in director's cut.
I just dont see him as Batman, or Bruce. It's the same feeling I got when I saw who they cast as Hal Jordan. For me, either you click with the casting or you don't and here, as much as I've liked previous Afflek films, I dont click with this idea at all. Maybe he'll surprise me, Ledger did (never liked his Joker, but cant deny he played what he was asked to play really well), but I'm not confident he will.
I do find it funny how some fans are reacting, and similarly, the backlash against the backlash who are suddenly supporting the casting just because the 'fan boys' aren't. That sorta stuff always makes me laugh.

Let me say this, concerning the whole view of "Well, everyone hated Ledger getting signed":
The thing is that, while everyone is saying he's a good actor, and he is, he's only as good as who is in charge of him. Affleck does good work in stuff like The Town or Argo, his stuff, but his more broad roles, not so much.
And remember, Snyder has never been good on the whole character issues. Remember Sucker Punch, or Watchmen, or even Man of Steel? you can say what you want, but most of the characterizations were s*** in those.
It's not about Affleck doing a bad job, it's about Snyder making a bad performance from Affleck, IMHO.

I admit, my disdain for 'Daredevil' was seeing Ben and wife fighting in a playground, and Colin Farrell's ridiculous overacting. Oh, and Favreau as the annoying 'comic relief' best friend.
Ben was okay, I guess.

I'm too stupid to know what Justice League Dark is. Unless...is it where all the characters are black? No.... It's basically a newer team of DC's Vertigo-esque characters. Dark as in "dark natured", magical, weird characters. Swamp Thing, Deadman, John Constantine, Zatanna, Madame Xanadu..... Guillermo del Toro has been in talks to make a movie of them and has actually written a script already. It's believed it's going to actually happen. I hope. Wikipedia is your friend. One of the reasons why we were all wishing that Pacific Rim did well.

Ya know, instead of complaining about Ben Affleck as Batman, people should be more concerned with the fact that the movie does not even have a script yet.

Yeah we kind of need a plot for this movie otherwise it doesn't matter who is cast to play Batman. I mean we need an actual villain for this right?
Even when they fight, which they will Bruce is going to have to find some kryptonite to keep it vaguely fair which leads to the question where does he get the green crystal from?

He's a good actor, but Batman? Meh. Clooney and that other guy from Top Gun(too lazy to google his name) did terrible jobs at Batman, and they are both good actors. Clooney was a great Bruce Wayne but a terrible Batman. He played it like Adam West in that he was like a big kid playing superhero. Val Kilmer was just dull. I dunno about Affleck. He was essentially okay as Daredevil, it was the script and direction that let him down. A good director and he'll be fine. *looks at director* Ah crap!

Yeah, especially as of right now Kryptonite does not exist in the Man of Steel universe.

Wow. Warner Brothers really has no clue how to make money with their properties. This is FAIL. How will this not make money? Affleck had a huge resurgence in the past couple of years and is a marquee name. He might have been bankable in 2004. MOS was not the huge hit WB wanted no matter how they spin it. It got smoked by a weak IM3 and this is what they come up with for Batman? This is a plate full of pee.

What happened to the Justice League movie they were supposed to do? Did anybody really think that even had a chance of happening? I would have liked to believe it I guess. they are ripping off Marvel by making several movies to build up to their Avenger movie which is of course Justice League. plus I think they said that the Justice League movie wont happen anytime this decade.

I was surprised they'd cast someone so well-known and someone over 40. He's older than Christian Bale and Bale first made his appearance as Batman eight years ago.

There was no way that MOS was ever going to equal Iron Man 3 numbers given the track record of the latter franchise since '08 vs a reboot. That can't possibly realistically be considered a disappointment.

On the other hand MOS had Returns in the minds of most movie going people and they had to contend with that. Otherwise this movie was a success and did very good otherwise. Also no one remember that Batman Begins didn't do that well in theaters because of the stain that Batman and Robin put on it. But it did do very well on DVD and rentals and that made up for alot.

So, forgive me if I'm being stupid.
But is this just a Batman/Superman crossover or is this the whole Justice League movie that's been in talks for ages?
Personally, I like Ben Affleck. So I'm not disappointed - surprised, but not disappointed.

this movie is just Superman and Batman, but it will undoubtedly lead to a Justice League movie if it does well enough.
