The official line is they were assholes in a bar with Andre, who said they were fired. They said he was a wrestler and couldn't fire them, he said "Monday, either I'll be here or you will".

Backlund looks really good in that match. I'm surprised WCW didn't sign him and put him in the main event. He was old enough.
