Bob Backlund held titles in Genichiru Tenryu's WAR promotion, which is nifty enough, but he was in six man matches with some... eclectic choices. One team: Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka, and Mil Mascaras. Another: Bob Backlund, Scott Putzki, and the Warlord. I'm not sure which team is more amusing. How about Bob Backlund, Dos Caras, and f***ing Vampiro? That's a f***ing odd one.

Is there a reason not to do a house show is Sheboygan? It's not like they ran PPV there or anything. It was obviously the B-show circuit. The A-show that night was in the Meadowlands headlined by Hogan vs. The Honky Tonk Man. I know, but even for back then, that's way out there. Like, there's not much between Green Bay and Milwaukee down that side of the state. The AWA would run Sheboygan, so it could be Vince messing with an already mortally wounded promotion. Sheboygan got a shout out on TNA once when Bully Ray asked Big Poppa Pump if he was still mad about "that rat in Sheboygan?"

There ought to be a running list on the first page, not going through 45 pages to see if this is a repost
Chyna and Muta vs. Kenzo Suzuki and Tanahashi

I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out why this was a thing. I mean I guess they're trying to cash in on the crossover success the WWF was having with pop culture but this is bizarre.

AWA did 3 segments. One with Jerry Lewis, who plugged his MDA marathon, one with Verne appearing with Don Rickles, and Jodie was the last one.

Reading up on the career of director Lewis Gilbert (RIP), I did not know that "High Chief" Peter Maivia was in "You Only Live Twice".

A wrestling movie came out in 1998 called The Naked Man. A super strange movie about a Chiropractor/Wrestler who’s Family is killed by an Elvis impersonator and a Pharmaceutical kingpin. It’s even crazier than it sounds. It stars Michael Rapaport, Rachael Leigh Cook, Michael Jeter and John Carol Lynch in what can only be described as a surreal comedy. Definitely worth checking out if you can track down a VHS or a French DVD.

Verne trying to keep up with the times and dip his toe in Vince-esque sports entertainment always turned out so bizarre. Thinking that an Entertainment Tonight type interview segment was the answer to Rock n wrestling seems about par for the course. It made him seem more out of touch than if he just kept on doing what he had always done. The below clip is a good example of someone old fashioned trying to keep up with the times. Kinda how I picture of Verne trying to keep up with Vince in the late 80's.

He was both making fun of hippies, and gently poking fun at himself in the process.

The first time WWF aired in the UK on ITV, they opened up with a world of sport intro, mixed with their own names.

Browsing Reddit pays off sometimes. What amazes me most about this is how significantly in better shape Kevin Sullivan looks here then when he was in WCW. It's not even a matter of him just losing some weight, but he looks buffer and 20 years younger then he did in the late 90's. The Sheik also looks pretty good for being dead.
