I'm usually given a hard time for drinking "girly drinks." Green Apple Smirnoff Ice, I don't care what anyone says, tastes like delicious delicious candy. I love the taste, it just doesn't do that whole "get me drunk" thing.

Nothing wrong with not liking the taste of alcohol.
It was definitely work for me to really get into it. Particularly beer. I was convinced I hated it for the longest time because all I'd had was like, Coors, Nattie Light, Bud Light...y'know, party beers. Nothing wrong with those, but they're definitely not my thing at all.
But a friend turned me on to Yuengling, which may not seem super special or anything, but it seriously completely changed my opinion on beers. Blue Moon further changed that opinion. I've been playing around with lots of different brands and styles since then and I've found a whole, whole lot to like in beer.
But some people don't like it even then, and that's fine.
As far as hard alcohol goes, I'm still kind of a wimp. Don't generally drink it unless I have a chaser, or I'm mixing it with something. But I'm a sucker for a good rum/whiskey and Coke.

I am bewildered by the idea that everybody must have a favorite alcoholic drink. It's not a law of nature that humans must need alcohol in someway in their bodies . Is it that hard to accept that not everybody likes booze? Not everybody likes chocolate, but I don't see this as strange and asked them why not. You obviously misunderstand, so I will spell it out. I am baffled by people who could have "two beers" and then declare their hatred for all alcoholic beverages. Because see, I have had way more than "two beers". I have had dozens of different beers (maybe hundreds, barely). Beer, if you did not know, widely diverse. There are THOUSANDS of different beers in HUNDREDS of styles with flavors and tastes that are all over the map. It is akin to someone writing off a musical genre after hearing two shitty songs, or writing off pro-wrestling because they saw a shitty match. That doesn't make sense, does it? You guys know better, right? Ok. So, yes it is hard to accept someone "not liking booze" after sipping "two beers" because that is a gross generalization formed in sheer ignorance. Keep in mind, that I am talking beer here, which doesn't include the wide variety of wines, spirits, ciders, and cocktails. The odds and my experiences suggests that there is a chance that there is an alcoholic drink out there that you would like. One of my first beers was a Heineken. One of the skunkiest beers I have ever had. If I had judged all beers (or all alcohol) just on that one beer, I would have missed out on some OUTSTANDING beer. An example would be Southern Tier Pumking which tastes like pumpkin pie, another would be New Holland's Dragon's Milk which I think tastes like chocolate milk. I could keep going here... See I don't know about that. I've tasted many MANY different types of beer (both high end microbrews and store-bought) and mixed drinks and I could never make it past the first sip because they all tasted pretty bad. While there are variations in the taste/flavor, they all a similar alcohol note that put me off (amongst other things depending on the drink).

My favorite drinks are ones that I have had to decide to like. This led me to push through the initial dislike of the flavor until I now think they're wonderful.
I can see why people wouldn't bother to go through that, especially when there's no guarantee that they'll ever come to like the flavor.
It kind of blows my mind sometimes. I mean, I think mushrooms are disgustingly slimy and have a repulsive flavor. I would never think to keep eating them until I grew to appreciate them. Why do so many people (myself included) treat alcohol differently? And, along those lines, why judge someone who just doesn't like the taste of alcohol? It's not like I just haven't tried the right mushroom--I'm 100% confident that they're all terrible. Likewise, I have no doubt that some people will just not like alcohol, no matter what.
