It just doesn't agree with me and my taste buds. I drink some on occasion, but I usually get an overwhelming bitterness, with a hint of whatever flavor the drink wants to convey. The only beer I've liked was Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, but that's because it was basically like a cherry cola.
Also, the last few times I've drunk a drink, it either gave me a headache or the giggles.

I like the bitterness but I need to drink something else or eat something if I drink a few bitter beers.
Some of my favorite beers are bitter, just something about the intense flavor that I enjoy but I need to give the bitterness a rest after a while.

There's a beer, wine, or cocktail to appease everybody's tastebuds. If you don't like the taste of the types of spirits you've tried then you just haven't found the right drink for you.
I guarantee that there is a cocktail out there that you would love.

I hate most light colored beers, but I like darker beers. A good stout or porter has that good plain black coffee taste that I like. And then there is always good Polish vodka like Sobieski and Luksusowa that has no taste at all.

Depends on the type. Some beers (IPAs) ave a taste I can't stand. Some hard alcohol (Gin, Tequila, Ouzo/Sambuca) has taste I can't stand either. I used to like rum, but now it makes me physically ill.
I still like pilsners, porters, and sake, though.
And oh god, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat.... can't stand the stuff. It tastes like NyQuil.

Tequila is probably the most two faced liqour out there, when it is done right, as in Don Julio, it is a nectar of the gods, when it is done poorly, like in Jose Cuevo, it is just spicy piss.

I can't stand alcohol either. I don't buy the idea that you need to find "the right drink" since all of them still have alcohol in their flavor. It's like telling me I'll like ketchup, I just have to find the right recipe.

I can't shit on somebody for having different taste than me, but I honestly believe with the right amount of work, a cocktail can replicate almost any existing flavor. And while alcohol does have somewhat of a distinct character, I don't find that flavor to bd strongly present all the time.

I hate rum, but other than that, I'm pretty good.

I've had plenty of finely crafted cocktails that didn't have any alcohol taste in them.

I find cranberry takes the horror out of alcohol quite a bit. Honeyed whiskey, while clearly alcohol, has a much more pleasant warmth to it, not hellpiss like beer.

If a cocktail will mask the taste of alcohol, then I don't need the alcohol in it. Its never enhanced anything for me either.
I've tried a wide variety of stuff and the alcohol taste always kills it for me.
Like those lemonades or fruity drinks, I'd rather just have lemonade or a fruit drink.

I don't like drinking much, either, but it's nice to feel like you have the option, I guess, without wretching, so I do try to find things I don't hate.

I find that the best cocktails don't hide or mask the booze. Most really good craft places focus on balance and infusion of ingredients, and actually using the flavor whatever alcohol is in the cocktail.
I do understand the appeal of just throwing in a simple mixer, though.
As far as beer--I dunno, you'd have a hard time telling me that a Hoegaarden, Lindeman's Lambic Framboise Ale, Stone IPA, or Yebisu have a super strong unifying taste (I say this because beer does have somewhat of a shared consistency).

I used to like Mike's hard root beer but I didn't like the burning after taste. I then realized I could easily just drink regular root beer. Same thing with wine coolers and their fruity taste. I cut out the middle man. Then of course not everybody likes the same tastes. So it's wrong to say everybody likes some type of alcohol. Just like not everybody likes some type of fish or some type of garlic.

I've tried a wide variety of stuff and the alcohol taste always kills it for me. Like those lemonades or fruity drinks, I'd rather just have lemonade or a fruit drink. This reminds me of a time when I worked at Lowe's. There was a guy in the break room talking to a couple other employees about some kind of beer he had drank and how much he loved it. I don't drink so I wasn't paying much attention. He then asked me what kind of beer I liked. I told him that I didn't drink alcohol. He asked why and I just told him it just wasn't something I did. He asked me if I liked lemonade. I told him yes so he said I should try Mike's Hard Lemonade. I told him basically what you said. If I want something that tastes like lemonade, I will drink a lemonade. I know this story really doesn't have much to do with the thread itself but your post just reminded me of that and I wanted to share for some reason. For the record, I don't want anyone thinking that I have a problem with people who drink. If you enjoy it, do what makes you happy. Almost all of my friends drink. Just not my thing.
