I don't like living in a world where Goto should be Hashimoto Mk. 2, IMO, but has a ceiling of the IC title at best and is viewed as lucky to hold that. He's super underrated even by a lot of fans. I'm also a huge, unabashed, unashamed fan of both Meiyu Tag guys though, so of course I'm biased. I can understand why they're a bit hesitant to do anything of note with Shibata but there's no excuse for Goto and honestly I don't think there's much of an argument for Shibata not doing more and being more than he is. The man is over is f***, putting in some awesome work and he has been for a while. He's firmly settled into this great loner character and he's money in that role. I'm not asking for them to make him THE guy or anything but surely he should be more than what he is. He's something special, I think. No one else has that brand of charisma or killer aura that he's got. I do hope this program with heel Naito makes Naito for real this time, at least, because Naito is another dude who I think people have been sleeping on for a long time until the revelation that has been his heel turn made them take notice. His past booking certainly didn't do him any favors in that regard, though. It does seem like we're in a bit of a down period but I do hope the landscape is at least somewhat different after WK10. Maybe we can have that CHAOS implosion I've been asking for forever, since I love Okada vs Nakamura, or maybe even LOS INGOBERNABLES vs CHAOS. There's plenty of cool shit they COULD do. Instead we going to get more Bullet Club and them increasing their numbers even more. And more NWA representatives to come over to lose titles to NJPW's elder statesmen. And they're going/just went public, so its only going to get more and more stale.

The NWA situation just makes no sense to me. Tharpe says he wants to rebuild the brand and the prestige of the title, but as much as I love both men and respect them for what they've given over the years the immobile Tenzan and Cozy (who can still go to a degree but is no spring chicken himself) are odd choices.

Tharpe is a buffoon and mark, NJPW merely tolerate him. Think of him as a male Ditzy Carter but with about five more IQ points. Nagata will likely be the next one who gets a run with The NWA Belt. And let's look at The NWA while we're at it, who do they have that that people will want to watch. Conway? Jax Dane? Big Daddy Yum Yum? Kahagas?

And Jax Dane just beat Tenzan in Texas last week to become the new NWA champion. Next person to get a title run will be Tiger Mask IV with the current NWA junior champion, Steve Anthony, scheduled for an upcoming tour.

As part of Tenryu's retirement tour, he teamed with Shibata today to defeat Minoru Suzuki and Takashi Iizuka, Katsuyori scored the pin on Iizuka following the PK and he and Tenryu shook hands after the match.

Shibata/Goto at wkx would be great. We got a great overarching theme.
Their singles leading to a tag team title win leading to ic title match
I know Okada beats Tanahashi.
But then what of nakamura?

Shibata/Goto has been done to death. Wish they could go on different directions.
Nakamura will probably feud with AJ Styles. I mean how long they could delay that match?

In an Interview, Takaaki Kidani the president of Bushiroad and NJPW's parent company has announced that New Japan's revenue they've obtained is 21.6 million, which is 22% higher than it was the year before.

That is awesome
They really need to just unify the tag titles. Jrs titles make no sense for the kind of product jado/gedo are presenting
Young Bucks as your face underdog tag team? So much more money

Jr.Tag division has also been nothing but mix of bucks, redragon & rpg vice/hooligans for years now. Every big event has a three way or any of these two teams fighting for titles. The matches are always good though

Their heavyweight tag division seems to be even worse off than the junior one. Wasn't it basically centered around Maria's ass for a chunk of this year?
If they combined the two they'd probably get a decent tag scene.

I'd hate to see the tag belts unified. It would be another spit in the face of Japanese tradition by Jado and Gedo. There are weight limits for a reason in Japan.
If you made the Junior division anywhere near relevant, it would alleviate the issue. Nah, stupid idea.

So much more money The biggest thing wrong with this is suggesting that the uber douchebag heels in the Young Bucks should go to being a face team.

It's probably pretty difficult to do when Japanese tradition dictates that junior divisions are completely inferior to the heavyweight ones, to the point where reaching a heavyweight stature is considered a graduation.

The thing with the tag belts, they had the perfect opportunity for Meiyu Tag to have a long reign and take on all challengers but they decided that a girl's ass was more important, there has been ZERO successful title defenses this year. I repeat ZERO successful defenses.
The Jr tag titles aren't much better, yes The Bucks and ReDragon can have a great match in their sleep but its gets repetitive watching them over and over. Bring in teams from NOAH, CMLL, mix it up a bit for both divisions. Fuego or Maximo usually comes around now and then for a tour, have them and Mascara team up to challenge for them. Or The Addiction, Daniels is no stronger to Japan and he and Kaz would be over with the crowds.

If you made the Junior division anywhere near relevant, it would alleviate the issue. Nah, stupid idea. Both tag divisions are weak because of the divide. Also this would clear more contenders for the jr title itself. As far as modern product i do believe noah, new japan, and dragon gate have shown cruiserweights can mix it up with heavies. I mean Okada isn't that big of a guy. Neither is nakamura. Kenta and MARUfuji main evented noah. Ibushi graduated to heavyweight. The tag division is weak. The divide with jrs and heavies makes for less of a mixup in the talent. I would love to see guys like Omega face off with Ishii. The comedy tag of Taguchi and Honma would be so great The use of jrs in preliminary roles is ok, but the point of a smaller team is that they have the speed advantage over the heavies. Like a match of Meiyu Tag vs REdragon would be mucho bueno
