Stewie will wake up and find Brian in the shower. How can that NOT be the outcome? That has Seth Macfarlane written all over it.

Stewie will wake up and find Brian in the shower. Which I hope happens with Billy Gardell. "Molly, I had the worst dream ever! They rebooted everything the fourth season, so it was like the first three didn't count! And they were trying to shoehorn you into acting like that Melissa McCarthy chick you look like, as she acted in her movies!" Back to the OT, someone mentioned a throwaway line about Stewie going into the future when his time machine still worked.

If this doesn't work out, you can have Stewie wake up and find Brian takinga shower. That or get Patrick Duffy and Victoria Principal back to make a live action appearance.

That doesn't seem right to me. Losing a beloved pet takes time to get over. But then again, it's Family Guy. They threw sensitivity out the window a long time ago. It's weird, because almost everything else about his death seemed very sensitive. Little laughs throughout (mainly during the funeral) but largely not the usual kind of blunt stuff they throw at you because it makes them laugh so therefore you'll probably love it too. If they'd done a time jump ("6 months later...") after the funeral ended, I think the search for a new dog would have worked better. But again, some people might think getting a new dog because it fills a void for them is perfectly ok - inconsistant area to tread here.... I think they did somewhat of a time jump, but only like a month I believe.

Just saw the episode.
Well, if you guys need me, I'll be curled up in the fetal position, having Vietnam flashbacks to when I found out Tessie, one of my family's dogs was hit by a car and had to be put to sleep.
At least the Griffins got to say good-bye to Brian.

Meh. Killing off a character for the sake of publicity or changing the things is pretty stupid. Especially on a sitcom that doesn't tell one continuous story. Plus I didn't hate Vinny but I can see the joke wearing thin. The cool Italian Stereotype character is going to get old really fast.
I'm surprised on how well they handled killing of Brian. Outside of the Squirrel kicking him it was done pretty classy. There was some really good touching moments and really good sad moments in this episode for sure.

Is it bad that my first thought on seeing the clip of Brian getting hit was "How did that kill him? He's taken worse damage than that before! Hell, that's not even the first time he's been hit by a car!"
Damn cartoon physics.
Of course I haven't watched FG in about six years, so I'm pretty unaffected by this. Now, if Roger or Klaus were to be killed off, then I might have something to rage about.

Okay, I watched the episode tonight on Youtube. And even though I still don't like that they killed off Brian, I did like that little bit of bonding between Vinny and Stewie.

Family Guy hasn't shied away from changing the status quo. Peter has changed jobs, Brian has gone through relationships, Mayor West married Lois' sister, and every character that was killed off and not immediately brought back at the end has stayed dead. The only exception in the show's entire history is James Woods. And in his case, his death wasn't shown onscreen.
I will say that whether you love the show, hate the show, used to love the show but now hate it, or used to hate it but now love it; they've gotten people talking about the show a lot lately. This is the biggest amount of publicity they've gotten in a while. It's just funny because a number of people complained about the show sticking to the status quo before (despite my argument above), and now when they do just that it causes one of the show's biggest controversies.
If the ratings dip down too low than yeah FOX will force them to bring back Brian, but it's going to take time to see how much certain people's rage online translates to the ratings.

Would be bad to kill off Meg or Chris but at least their characters don't bring anything to the table except an extra person to make fun of by the family or at school or to give the creepy old man a part in the show. Brian and Stewie had a good team almost like Brain and Gorilla where one was a heel and one was a face but together they had a golden bond.

Another thought I had (and I'm not sure if it's mentioned) is that Brian could still be used in flashback gags. Just a possibility. I'm interested to see what they do with Vinny. All I could think of is Paulie Walnuts when he was talking though.
