Yeah, completely inactive players are usually replaced. I'm talking more about the "1 post per day phase" or "only show up on final day of day phase" inactives. A modest clarification on the case of measuring inactivity. Explain inactivity? Alright. Well, it is subjective obviously. But the way I personally view it is through a few questions: 1) How often have they been posting? For that, people who post more would be considered more active in my mind. 2) How useful is their post?Is it a generic town rally cry like "come on guys, we really need to step up" , or is actually useful by either providing a suggestion for what direction we should head in and perhaps providing new evidence for us to look at. EX: Not calling you out Torgadden because the game just started and I believe you're new (correct me if I'm wrong) but this: I have no strong feeling's one way or the other....yet! wouldn't count as an active post in my eyes, as its not bringing anything new or useful to the table.

I'd count it as active just because it's a heads up that he's actually paying attention. What's new and earth shattering that we can bring to the table right now? We're arguing about objective play strategy right now, I mean c'mon!

Well, the game has just begun. That part is more for later on, when there is actual evidence and facts to work with.

That's interesting that you would single "brand new" me out. You must think that as I am new, I would have to be a townie. So its very interesting that you would want me out of the way early.

Oh H of the Corporate interests, you have given me, BRB, an enlightened innovation. You make the claim that the murderers would pursue perceived potent players.
Who among our court would popularly qualify as especially potent at this pastime?
Potent in what manners? Scheming as scum or sniffing out the scum?
I propose a system of tiers: 1) the masters, 2) the enlightened, 3) the intermediate, 4) the unwashed masses, and 5) the complete ignoramuses.
Jazzman, would you care to aid my proposition by submitting your finest, however imperfect, analysis of the players in this game according to such a tiered system? Would you then pass this privilege on to another player to answer, and so on?

What? I was figuring you're new to the game, which is why I was taking the completely non-committal post as more of a rookie thing.
But I'll be honest, I'd like to hear your logic. So two questions:
1) How does singling you out as new make me think you're a townie? And 2) How does thinking you're a townie or singling you out as new lead to me "wanting you out of the way early"?

EBWOP: That was obviously directed to Dark Torgaddon, not BRB.

So, newbie question, but you don't actually have to even hint at who your character is? Wouldn't that be considered cheating or, as the game progresses, can you simply figure out who's actually trying to find the Mafia and who's "faking it" without having to even consider them?
Also, based on playing Mafia-like board games, I feel like going after inactive/passive players would be best earlier on because it usually takes two or three days before you can really notice which active players are just playing pretend to be on the scum hunt (unless they're really bad about hiding it).

I am not in favour of day 1 lynching as we don't have anything to go on yet.

If one cleaves through the minutiae of partaking in the game, they will deduce that characterization is not of consequence. I failed to make this distinction when I was one of the unwashed masses in Batman Mafia II for the first day or so. All that is to be considered are the actions of the participants, not their style, which may perhaps be a manifestation of a restriction on their posts. You're welcome.

But I am sure you do. 2. call that newb confusion.

Just letting you all know, I am working on FAN Idol, but I should be able to read up and find a minor suspect
I will start with a serious FOS, because I tend to have a record of reading between the lines in these games

Now, call me crazy, but I remember another time some psycho tried to use fireworks to take out a WWE superstar. This guy, handsome as he is, is probably slithering around backstage even as we speak, maybe even talking to the Authority about which one of us is next. Or at least to the voices in his head. <3 Hope he doesn't bite me next <3 ...I'm not certain those <3 symbols mean something, but it's something I will remember. For the record, Orton was lynched in the previous game and therefore (I think) he will not appear in this game. Same with anyone who was involved in the previous game, so don't expect to see, say, CM Punk or John Cena.

After working in the day today and see over the thread, I have a few thoughts.
1) So I take it that the previous game and its continuity does have an effect on this game? I will have to research and read through the old game since I was not active in it.
2) There is always an example of a mafia member stepping up early as a 'townie leader' so I currently composing who I could see fitting this.
3) The newbie confusion is understandable in this first day phase...but I won't excuse it for any longer than two day phases.
4) Ah, the classic 'Lynch or not to lynch' question on day 1. I say lynch. So much more information is given from a lynch than from a no-lynch.

You only have to hint at your character if it is a post restriction. Some people like doing so anyway, others don't. Personally, I'm not a fan of it as it could end up screwing you (and town by extension) over in the write up. Say we have a night phase writeup that says "Wrestler X is suddenly hit by a massive KO Punch and killed immediately", well, we'd all turn our attention to Brad then. Likewise if it said something like "The large 500 pound Ironclad Detective talked with Wrestler Y", then mafia will know to target Brad and town loses their cop. But the whole character claiming debate is a whole can of worms and issue that usually leads to circular arguments like "I want to do it and speak like my character because its fun", "your fun is costing the town", etc. What? I was figuring you're new to the game, which is why I was taking the completely non-committal post as more of a rookie thing. But I'll be honest, I'd like to hear your logic. So two questions: 1) How does singling you out as new make me think you're a townie? And 2) How does thinking you're a townie or singling you out as new lead to me "wanting you out of the way early"? To answer: 1. A new player would reasonably not be expected to handle a difficult role. As I am new, I don't know which roles are harder to play than others. But I am sure you do. 2. call that newb confusion. Alright. Two more questions then I'll (most likely) stop bugging you for now. 1. What makes you think a new player couldn't be given an important role? 2. You are a new player, right? (This one is just clarification) Now, call me crazy, but I remember another time some psycho tried to use fireworks to take out a WWE superstar. In the last WWE mafia game, there was a trick involving a similar thing. I'M WORKING OFF OF MEMORY SO THIS MAY NOT BE RIGHT: They're phone emoticons and it was a post requirement that they had to be used at least once per post. The way the poster talked, they made it seem like they were Kelly Kelly or just some random diva, but they turned out to be John Laurinaitis (and mafia, I believe).

EBWOP because I thought of something else:
So I agree Waffel that its a smart idea to pay attention to that.
What I would recommend (for everyone) is doing this to help them out in the future:
Below is a list of every player. Now copy/paste this into word and fill in whatever you notice about each character. This would include post restrictions, character, voting patterns, and anything else you would consider important. It may be early, but there are still quite a few people that I think we all can figure out. Then, if you ever see anything interesting/notable that you want to bring up in a post, go ahead.
1. "Hollywood" Hawk Jefferson 2. Artificial Kingslayer 3. Casey Jones is Insane. 4. D2: Sweet & Sour Edition 5. Josh Sparkless * 6. Lodi "Wyatt" Rulz 7. MasonK565 8. Majin Brad 9. 50% Sloth, 50% Spartan 10. Moonie * 11. Mr. B Natural: Law/Disorder 12. Orange 13. Senor Tyger 14. SnS 15. Spiked Meng-hican * 16. The Man They Call Asher 17. Dark Torgaddon 18.
