I don't even know who she is. I had to look her up and she is apparently a 17 year old from New Zealand. I listen to different varieties of music and I have never heard that song before. That's because you will never be a royal. Actually, my last name is King so I already am. :-P

I like Macklemore but it would be f***ing ridiculous if he won anything over Kendrick Lamar. It took me a while to catch on but I'm a believer in King Kendrick. So, of course Macklemore will sweep. My biggest problem with Macklemore as an artist is that his flow feels really off. Don't really like his rhyming or just his voice in general. I also think he gets made a big deal out of because he's white and raps about social justice issues. You know the media's been itching to crown Eminem's successor as "the next great white rapper" and Macklemore's in the right place at the right time. I also hate how a lot of people treat him like he's the only rapper who's ever used his rap as social commentary, especially since a lot of these people don't even listen to hip-hop beyond Macklemore and maybe one or two other artists. Rap has a rich history of social commentary dating back to its inception. I mean, I like the guy as a person. He seems like a real decent dude and I respect him for the stands he takes. I just don't like his music at all. Hell, even if I liked Macklemore's music, Kendrick Lamar's album just kills it in every category. To be fair I didn't even know Macklemore was white for months. It was only when I decided to google Macklemore I was huh he is white.

As for Macklemore, he seems like a cool dude and I like his attitude, but if you ask me, I think most of the success of "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us" actually comes from the production and the choruses. So in a way, Macklemore himself is the 'third wheel'. Not saying the guy isn't talented or that his lyrics don't play a factor to his success, but EVERYONE that I know, some who are even avid hip-hop/rap fans and can rap along to even the fastest rappers, I only find bopping their head to the beat and singing along to the chorus. When it comes time for Macklemore's verses, they don't react. Well, he writes all those choruses himself. Plus, if anything, he's the second wheel as everything he does is always credited to "Macklemore and Ryan Lewis." Every bit of shine/sales/awards he's getting are going to his producer too.

I'm okay as long as Macklemore doesn't win anything. I'd love to see Kendrick Lamar win Album of the Year.

Did you guys know that Nelly's album Nellyville was at one point an Album of the Year nomination?

Why don't they have much rock or metal awards? Yet there's like seven jazz awards. The people behind the awards have always been snobby toward rock/metal and maybe the lack of such awards isn't so bad when you consider that the first ever best metal Performance award was giving to freaking Jethro Tull.

First,The flute is a heavy, metal instrument. Second, they actually won Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental which is a slightly broad category.

Did you guys know that Nelly's album Nellyville was at one point an Album of the Year nomination? Just another reason even among award shows Grammies are joke. That is as bad as Katy Perry's song Roar being up for 1 of the biggest awards. It would be like if The Oscars nominated Transformers best picture or someone got an acting nom for Twilight.

Yeah, that's pretty much the rule for the Best New Artist category. They'll always choose the most obscure or least mainstream artist of the ones available. It's like they can't get enough of super-popular artists for every other major category, but turn into hipsters for BNA. But at the same time, it's also a benefit- keep in mind, Best New Artist is cursed, so you'll want the one you least like to win so that their career ends.

How did Janelle Monae not receive any nominations? That's absurd. Part of me is glad she got "snubed" because I don't want her to lose to some cavity poster or get treated like shit by teenager that don't know any better. see: Esperanza Spalding.

I think "Roar" is a pretty well crafted pop song actually. It's at least on the level of District 9 if anything. I am kind of curious to revisit Nellyville now though.

That album came out in September, right? I think that's past the cutoff point for nominations, just like how Kendrick is up for Grammys this year and not last year when his album came out in October 2012.

kinda surprised pearl jam got shunned out for all the rock categories. "Mind Your Manners" and "Sirens" are getting a lot of air time

Roar was way better when it was called 'Brave' by Sarah Barelleis. Plus Katy Perry is plain awful. But so are the Grammies,so it fits.

While I'm no fan of Lorde's music as a Kiwi its nice to see her do so well at such a young age.
