For 4 pay-per-views in a row, they end on shenanigans and everyone's like "BOO SHENANIGANS WE WANT NO NONSENSE"
And then this pay-per-view ends and everyone's like
"WTF A CLEAN FINISH?"
Now I'm not saying people can't dislike the ending, I'm just confused as to why people seem to be mad that there were no shenanigans when they've been saying for months now that they want no more shenanigans

Because they put shenanigans were there didn't need on, and the one PPV that was begining for it, they left clean.

If any match was set up for shenanigans it was this one.

I was fine, as long as there was going to be an actual unified champion at the end of the night.
I was just expecting some sort of shenanigans leading up to it, with all the foreshadowing of The Authority backing Cena.

It was less about the finish to me (I prefer Orton winning over Cena by 30000 megapoints) but the match was...awful. Woeful and bloated.
Just a lackluster main event to a lackluster PPV card, and the whole over use of the words historic/history...
Nah, just an awful main event to something which should have been booked better and built up to matter.
Unification should not be a D rated PPV consideration, if Vince thinks those championships are important Unification bouts deserve to be interesting.

It's actually insane. On the one PPV that should have had shenanigans, it was clean. Holy shit. Like, what? Are they trying to f*** with people?

Yeah, on top of it, it wasn't a very good match. But then again, Orton.

WWE made a no-win situation for themselves (at least as far as this forum is concerned) with this match. I absolutely agree that this match needed a clean finish, but at the same time there was a part of me that was hoping for some inexplicable third party just to break from the familiarity of all this, but I'm somewhat proud of them for playing it up that we were gonna see an absolute Champion between John Cena and Randy Orton, then actually delivering and sticking with it. I don't like the outcome, I was never looking forward to the match, but they played it straight. I get why they did it, they unified the titles with their heaviest hitters, on paper it all makes sense but that doesn't make it any less boring.

I think the finish being completely botched and Orton taking almost a minute to decide whether to try to redo the spot or not also hurt it.

Because the clean finish didn't involve CM Punk and Daniel Bryan being co-holders of the unified title and spending the next 4 years both defending it against all comers AND each other.

Yeah, that's it. It's not wanting them to do something interesting with the Cena/Orton dynamic (they didn't), build an interesting future for Mania for the title (if Orton's involved, I don't really see how they have), or changed it up at all. It's because we only want those two at champ and will riot otherwise. Our happiness when Shield and Ziggler got pushes? Totally fake.

On one hand it's like yeah they didn't do a screwy finish, but on the other hand it's Orton and Cena and the match was weird with like 3 times where Cena was at the belts but couldn't figure out how to unhook them. I don't really see where it calls for blanket criticism for no screwy finish but I also think it wasn't exciting or fun.

I really enjoyed the match, and the crowd was into it.Good idea on WWE killing Bryan so they wouldn't have YES! chants later on, the people would've really gotten pisssed. Anyone else enjoy it?

I'm amused by the people that are pissed that HHH didn't steal the belts, especially with his general opinion 'round here.

Well, I for one didn't complain. I was just kind of sitting there thinking, "Wow. Orton won clean. Didn't see that coming." That match had some nice moments, but overall I never really got into the match. It's kind of hard to believe Cena loses clean and the boards don't explode with joy and happiness. However, I can totally see why the board wouldn't celebrate Orton winning as well...

Because this was the one match where the contestants, story and outcome (no matter who won) were so bland and uninspiring that SOMETHING, ANYTHING to shake it up would have helped the entertainment value.
Every other time it has hindered it greatly.
