So lowest common denominator? yes Why not both? Why not put out something that is smart (or, at the very least, isn't offensively, condescendingly stupid) AND will be mega-popular? Why does it have to be either or? While I might have various issues with their movies, I certainly acknowledge that Marvel has made billions with their Avengers franchise, movies which are incredibly popular with lots and lots of people, without resorting to the cinematic equivalents of dick and fart jokes that are Bay's summer blockbuster movies like Transformers. The sad thing is, it IS possible to do 'smart wrestling' that I think would be popular with live and television audiences. Smart wrestling without having to rely on worked shoot angles or meta-humour.

It's a carny mentality. The assumption that your audience, at large, are marks; and those who dissent, question, are reasonable or logical, exist as the overwhelming minority, and thus don't matter.

What am I missing here?
If we assume the report is true (and the posts I am referring to also do so), then HHH/WWE is saying it did not sign Eddie/Davey because they already have guys with the same general look/size who can also go in the ring. Look at the NXT roster and that seems to be true.
So how does that translate to WWE keeping down guys like that or discriminating against them or whatever? They already have guys like that. The most over guy on the roster is from the same mold. They are just saying they don't need MORE guys like that -- and isn't this the same forum that always moans and groans about how WWE has a generic look and everybody looks the same?
Plus, I don't understand the tangent argument that their size doesn't matter, it should be about personality and getting their characters across? Now exactly what does that have to do with Vanilla Midget I and VM II? Since when are Eddie and Davey anything more than workratz horses? When have they ever been promo masters or guys who are known for developing and getting over as characters?
I find the whole thing confusing.
And I was really disappointed that it was a different Kevin Sullivan in charge of teaching these guys how to communicate. I want the NXT roster to all learn how to do realistic Satanic chants so bad.
