I hear some people rave about Christian. I hear some people hate on him. I think he was super over in 2005, and should've at least faced Cena one on one for the title. What do you think? Go for it in the poll and comments.

Good-to-great worker, solid on the mic, decent looks and personality. Solid B+.
I know most of you guys will disagree, but I think his Orton feud in 2011 was actually the best thing that happened to him since his return to WWE.

When given an opportunity, he always delivers. That to me is a testament to his skill. The fact that WWE have underutilized him (IMO) for much of his career, I'll never understand.
I considered him to be the perfect candidate for the "ultimate opportunistic gimmick (which would later go to Edge, who should have just stuck to being the Rated R sleazebag, which was great) and should have been a thorn in Cena's side in 2005, never being booked stronger than Cena, but always someone who is waiting on the wings to take advantage of anything and get the title. Yes, I would have booked Christian as a multi time WWE champion...I guess that means that WWE would close their doors.
But no, while I never considered him to be a major star, he could have been a dependable main eventer who was there to transition or get heat for someone. He always had impressive matches, had THE best title reigns as "the champ" (whether it was TNA or ECW, where he far outshined the WWE or WHC champ). Overall, I've always been a fan of the guy. I don't get the ratfaced thing (which I always characterized by small features such as chin and teeth, or perhaps a protruding nose). He's got more of a pancake head going on, if we wanted to insult the guy.

In ring he is a dependable good hand, not great, but good.
Character wise...yeah, ever since he came back to WWE he's been Edge's good-friend, and frankly in kayfabe he doesn't deserve half of the matches he's been involved in, and he lacks the character/promos to be able to make me interested a lot of the time.
I felt bad when he lost the title to Orton 2 days after winning it but on a personal fan level I felt somewhat pleased by it too given how he was a part of Del Rio's lack of legitimacy. Del Rio losing to a retiring Edge, then retiring Edge's little buddy was infuriating to me. A way to kill off a character's legitimacy in 1 month.
Promo wise, before 2006 he was pretty fun and a good foil to Edge's genera-cool look, but as soon as he returned after his TNA run and he wanted to be taken seriously he didn't have the same charm or goofiness.
Also, his hair is more the colour of his natural skin than his skin is these days.

Voted the solid worker thing. He's talented and usually entertaining, but will likely never be one of my favorites

WWE dropped the ball with him in 05. Then he went to TNA and stole the show. Since coming back to WWE..... It's Christian.

Solid in the ring, decent on the mic, nothing to special for me though. Never saw him as a main event level talent myself, he doesnt have the look or the mic ability to be at the very highest level in my opinion.

Certainly one of the great over-achievers in the industry. People like Vince never saw the look in a guy like him, and it seemed like he was destined the Marty Janetty of his great tag-team with Edge. However, looking at his career path, it really seems like he didn't settle for anything less than he was capable of and always gave his best in every role he was assigned. When it became clear WWE wasn't going to give him a main event opportunity, he jumped to TNA and got one there and became a credible main eventer. When he finally bottomed out there, he came back and ruled ECW in its final days. It took a depleted main event roster plagued by the injury of its main star, but in 2011 he finally got the big one. However, after the mess that turned out to be, and the fact that after a career that was actually pretty-damn injury free for most of his time, his body might finally be giving out on him and so has his persona as well. Maybe it would be best if he followed Edge to a retirement and a Hall of Fame induction.
It's funny though, because I wonder how his career would have progressed if he stayed in the WWE. The very thing that finally allowed him the chance to break the glass ceiling in the WWE was Edge's retirement, and yet the day he debuted in TNA was the permanent retirement of Eddie Guerrero, and Batista would soon follow with a crippling injury because of the extra pressure and workload. Perhaps he would have gotten that chance years sooner if he had been on Smackdown instead.

He is a solid worker, but he's also an overrated, rat faced loser.
So I picked that one.

I don't think WWE in 2005 would have ever given the ball to Christian and let him run with it. At the very most he may have gotten a one on one title shot on a TV main event or as a multi-person match participant on a PPV. Either way, he never would have won the WHC or WWE title.
He is talented enough that he has been able to get over in any position (good or bad) he has been put in. Whether it be, with Edge, the heel turn split that eventually went nowhere, hanging out with DDP, being unamerican, being the CLB, being the goofy heel with Tomko or Jericho, or the returning babyface in ECW.
I really enjoyed the ladder match with Del Rio and the subsequent fued with Randy Orton (I honestly think it was the best one on one fued of his entire career), but let's be real, he only got into that position because he is best friends with Edge and Edge retired. If WWE thought anymore of Christian and their willingness to put their trust in him as a top of the card guy, he either would have a) had a longer run at the belt, or b) been the face and Orton the heel in their fued.

One of my favourite guys to watch wrestle, you always know your in for a treat when he's in any match basically. Great charisma and promo skills as well. Never understood why WWE never got behind him, that ovation he got when he won the world title in 2011 should have told WWE all they needed to know about how popular the guy is. But they blew it because they didn't believe in him. Sometimes WWE's stubborness amazes me, see Daniel Bryan.

I went with:
TNA Christian Cage was awesome and best.
Robbed of a push in 2005 when he was super over. Still great.
Competing with Rey Mysterio for record for longest total time out with injury.
I always felt Christian was the superior member of E&C, and I still do. That's nothing against Edge, who I am a huge fan of too, I just feel Christian has the advantage in pretty much every facet of wrestling. How he didn't get a bigger push in '05 given how over he was still confuses me. His TNA run is one of my favourite time periods for any superstar ever. When he came back to WWE I thought it was a big mistake but he had a great run in ECW and that was the only WWE related product I watched for a brief time - mainly because of him. When he went back to the main shows I thought he was misused up until his return at EC '11. His run with Edge and seemingly subsequent feud with Edge was obviously derailed, sadly because those two feuding over the World or WWE Title had always been a dream of mine. Him winning the title at Extreme Rules '11 is one of my favourite wrestling moments ever. I invited a load of my mates from my childhood who I used to watch wrestling with over to my flat to watch it and it was like one big party. I usually watch wrestling on my own because none of my mates watch it anymore, but most of the people I invited came over simply because they wanted to see Christian finally get what we all thought he deserved. The feud with Orton was horrendously one-sided and, if it hadn't been for Punk's pipebomb keeping me glued to everything WWE did at that point, I'd have probably stopped watching WWE through frustration at how his potential elevation had been so utterly squandered.
But now, for the first time in his career, I'd totally understand WWE not pushing him to be a main champion and that's simply due to his injuries. Someone who is that injury prone simply can't be the main guy.
In short he's one of my all-time favourites who deserved a lot more than he was given in my opinion, but I'm just glad I got to see him ply his trade for so many years and I'm glad he finally won the World Title in the company that he really wanted to win it in - even if I think his career would have been better for me as a fan had he stayed in TNA.

He's good in the ring, but I didn't care about him at all in the '90s and I still don't.
