Bumping this thread for the teaser trailer for the new Kamen Rider series: Kamen Rider Drive. (IE the follow up to Gaim, talk about a big helmet to fill.)
Looks like they are going for Accel: The series with the whole police motif. But of course being only a 15 second trailer there is a lot of story to uncover.

Too early for me to tell after one episode of Kamen Rider Drive, but following Gaim was always going to be tough. The Urobutcher nailed it with that one. Also, I wouldn't be shocked to see Drive team up with the other Kamen Rider who drove a car - Black RX (Tridoron, Drive's car, sounds a lot like "Rideron", which was Black RX's car). Garo Makai No Hana finally remembered it had a plot in the last few episodes after almost 20 episodes of (admittedly great) Monster of the Week stuff, and reminded me just why I love it so much. I wasn't surprised that it didn't end with Raiga finding his parents again. I'm convinced they'll save that for a movie, along with exactly where Rei disappeared to after he finished training Raiga. Once again, the "final boss" is "giant weird albino nude demon lady", which I always appreciate. ToQger's picking up a little, with the reveal of things like "Shadow Towns" (towns the Shadow Line had successfully taken over) and the "president" of the Rainbow Line, who debuted this week: He may either be an actual rabbit, or a guy wearing a giant Rabbit head, I'm not entirely sure. Also, just announced today, Crunchyroll will be streaming Ultraman Max, hopefully this leads to more tokusatsu getting officially-translated releases. The Garo anime has had a little buzz behind it, so maybe that will get people curious about that.

The 39th Sentai is Shuriken Sentai Ninninger 手裏剣戦隊ニンニンジャー I find the timing of this amusing, as I just finished KakuRanger for the first time the other day. The pic is a screen shot of a Japanese Copyright site.

I'm absolutely fine with a Ninja sentai next year. I was kinda hoping the rumours of a bird/flight-based show were true as I recently finished Jetman, which I adored. Will next year's crossover clusterf**k be an all-ninja teamup, like the all-dino one in Kyoryuger vs Go-Busters? Depends who's willing to return I guess (I'd think the Hurricanegers would be up for it, having done a special and a Gokaiger teamup). Anyway, after the weirdness of ToQger, a return to more conventional fare is to be expected.
Anyway, I've been watching something outside of Sentai, Kamen Rider, even my beloved Garo, although it's directed by the creator of Garo.
Tekkouki Mikazuki. it's a 6-part series, but every episode is like a mini Kaiju movie. Although there's some insanity going on here, the first monster was a giant slice of Watermelon. I'm not making that up.

Well they are 2 for 2 when it comes to Ninja Sentais so I am lookin forward to this.
Would love if this ninja sentai has a little callback to Kakuranger with a female leading the team this time.
And an all Ninja sentai team up movie.....I would say the Shinkenger should be involved but they are more akin to samurai , but would make an awesome crossover.

One of life's certainties has always been "You can never have enough ninjas."
Yeah if they're able to I too would like to see all three ninja teams represented in next year's team up, failing that at least an awesome visual of the Ninningers leaping from train car to train car on the Rainbow Line trains.

... Or chuck the Gokaigers in on top for "Pirates & Ninjas II" I know we have a Power Rangers-specific thread, but I wish Super Megaforce used footage from the Kakuranger tribute of Gokaiger, would have been nice to have Ninjor back briefly. As long as you can find someone who can do a good Marvin the Martian impression, no need to worry about the original actor! Anyway, it seems the Zyuranger DVD cover has leaked. I won't embed it, as it's huge but Here it is. If it's legit, I get the impression that by having "ZYURANGER" in massive letters is an indication that they'd like to do more. Goushi (my favourite of the Zyurangers) looks weird, like he's been badly photoshopped in.

A ninja-based Sentai? It's the third one, right? Will Saban adapt them to become Alien Rangers?

That Zyuranger DVD cover looks terrible. Geki Jason, Dan Billy, and Boi Trini turned out okay, but Mei Kimberly and Goushi Zack, not so much. It's like their heads were photoshopped onto their bodies.

I can also see them wanting to skip ToQGer now. Ninjas are a safer bet than Trains, unless the ToQGer toys are selling insanely well (This was the factor that saw Go-Busters being skipped over. TV ratings mean next to nothing for Sentai & Rider - it's all about toy sales).

Still looks just as good as she did during Kakuranger.....Sentai women age beautifully well most of them.

As for TV ratings and toy sales, didn't Ohranger bomb in the former, and did exceptionally well in the latter?

As for TV ratings and toy sales, didn't Ohranger bomb in the former, and did exceptionally well in the latter? Ohranger's run was troubled by real-life events (Early episodes were dark, then the sarin attack on the Tokyo Subway led Toei to retool the show. Apparently the difference is noticable watching the first 8 episodes, then what followed. This, from Rangerwiki explains Ohranger's run rather well: So yeah, Ohranger basically was the start of the shift towards more merchandise-driven shows. Gokaiger is actually a good example of how much toy sales matter - it's actually the 4th-lowest rated Sentai in terms of viewing figures, but obviously toys like the ranger keys were a big hit (to the point Go-Busters & Kyoryuger keys were made in the following years), so Gokaiger was seen as a successful show. Go-Busters bombed in ratings and abysmal toy sales, so it's seen as a flop. Word on the street is that Bandai made the call for skipping over Go-Busters and making a PR show out of Kyoryuger.

Still looks just as good as she did during Kakuranger.....Sentai women age beautifully well most of them. She was apparently only 13 when she started filming KakuRanger. The episode with her character's birthday (which kicked off the revival of the big bad arc), lined up with her actual birthday. ToQger is likely getting skipped for Power Rangers because it has been said by big name fans that Saban Brands was less than impressed with the ToQger designs (which I think work for the show, because they look like something a child would draw). I like the ZyuRanger cover design. With them using "Super Sentai" like that, it seems they are using that as a brand name. Hope it does well. Now all we need is price and pre-order info.

I just looked up the Tsuruhime character, and you're right, the actress was in fact 13 at the start of the show. I'm surprised that they had a Sentai leader so young back then.

Well early 90's TV was filled with younger actresses looking older because they were often attired in costumes that were more fitting for adults (IE Most of the girls on Saved By The Bell.) I guess Japan was no exception on that front.

I am shocked she was 13yrs old when she did Kakuranger...and only now am learning this.
As said she came off as much older and her being in the range of 13yrs old never even came to thought more so since she was the leader If I had to guess I would have hinged my bets on aleast early to mid 20s, that is scary sneaky.

What's the consensus on ToQger?
I watched the first few episodes, but couldn't keep up with it.
Got a batch of the first 24 episodes, and plan on going through them, regardless. I'm just curious.
