What's with the Snyder hate? Seriously, he's not THAT bad and Man of Steel was actually a very good film(In my opinion). It could've been a lot worse you know. I'd rather have Snyder at the helm than say Tim Burton or Michael Bay directing Superman.

At least Heath Ledger was of an appropriate age, build, and height to pull off The Joker physically. Jesse Eisenberg can act as good as he wants to, but he's still going to look like a joke when they have him try to do a face-to-face monologue with Cavill's Superman. It's going to look like Superman being threatened by a high school kid. While it may not look like it, Cavill is only 5 months older than Eisenberg.

And, to me, everyone of his films has the same problem: they look technically beautiful, but they feel completely soul-less.

He really is like Michael Bay if Michael Bay knew anything about the basic rules of filmmaking (Stop breaking the 180 degree rule, damn you!).

I'm not too bothered by the casting and Eisenberg is the right age (even if he doesn't look it). Anyway, I don't think anyone will ever top Michael Rosenbaum's interpretation of Lex.

I don't agree with that interpretation of the character at all. You mean the main version presented for the past 40 years or so? Other than Jason Todd's death, I can't think of him crying in mainstream comics or animation. Damian? Batman & Robin #18. The speechless issue. Seems to be Robins dying that sets him off.

Found this People do realize that two of those guys are former Best Actor Nominees, right? I mean, 6-7 years ago I guess the joke worked, but now it just seems uninformed

I mean, 6-7 years ago I guess the joke worked, but now it just seems uninformed I am aware, but just because someone is a nominee for a best actor doesn't mean that they are a good fit for every role. Also I didn't make it. I saw it and found it funny.

Haha, just read this news and I had a hearty laugh at all of it. As someone who absolutely hated Man of Steel, I hope this turns out to be a massive disaster. Granted, I'm sure it'll make money no matter what, but both franchises desperately need to be out of Zack Snyder's pathetic hands. DC is going to make yet another painfully terrible superhero movie. They'll never learn. Marvel is laughing all the way to the bank. No that was just them laughing at how "great" their Ben Kingsley usage was. /Seriously, while Thor 2 gives me hope, I hope Iron Man 3 isn't where Marvel jumps the shark. //Smarks will sabotage Guardians by chanting "Daniel Bryan" whenever Drax appears.

Remember the Heath Ledger online outrage? People were convinced he wasn't a good fit and would ruin the movie.
This feels like exactly the same thing.
Luthor is smug, smarmy, self-centered egotist who refuses to do anything good for the world and would rather spend his genius making himself richer and more powerful and then complaining that people don't let him help him. Feels like Eisenberg played a very similar role before....

I'd rather have Snyder at the helm than say Tim Burton or Michael Bay directing Superman. I'm not sure what he was doing with Sucker Punch and that owl movie but otherwise I've enjoyed Snyder's work. Considering what an ambitious undertaking Watchmen was I'd say he did a good job. I really liked Man of Steel, it's my favorite Supes movie, and I'm old enough to have seen the Reeves flicks when they first came out. I have faith in Snyder's direction, but the casting has taken me aback some. Affleck wouldn't be my first choice, but he's grown since Daredevil and I'd take him over Keaton, Kilmer, or Clooney. I'm not wild about Gadot but we'll see, not very experienced as an actress but has shown ability to do action. She needs to put some meat on her model build. Eisenberg seems to be another guy in a line of Luthors that's a good actor but isn't the guy from the comics. Granted Spacey was just a continuance of the Hackman version so it's fairly understandable. Why they won't give us the alpha-type from the comics I don't know.

I know I say this everytime the Heath Ledger as Joker naysaying is brought up, but I honestly remember the reaction being mostly positive to his casting. It might have just been an anomoly as to the boards I frequented at the time though.

I remember most of the criticism being thrown towards the first photo they revealed of his Joker outfit, at least up until we got the first trailer from the Dark Knight. Then the naysayers were pretty much quiet after that.

Oh boy... 411mania » Movies » News [Movies] New Rumors Regarding Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor Character in Batman vs. Superman (SPOILERS) Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.06.2014 The rumors have started… {Spoiler}{Spoiler} - If you thought that Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luther in Batman vs. Superman caused some drama, the following rumors could cause some interesting reaction. According to Latino Review, here are the latest rumors on the Lex Luthor character…
Eisenberg's Luthor will be into tattoos, and have a sleeve of the Metropolis skyline down his right arm. He also has a shaved head.
At the age of 14 he was initiated into a gang and then took it over within a year.
He is a ruthless business man and tech genius with street smarts; becoming a self-made billionaire at 18, and is the CEO of Lexcorp.
Wayne and Luthor meet early in the film, but they have a past, as Bruce once called Lex as an amoral, arrogant brat. Lex thinks of Bruce as a trust fund baby and feels he got himself to where he is at by innovation and hard work while Bruce onl;y has what he does because he was born a Wayne.
Wayne is a fan of Superman, while Luthor considers him an alien, and a trespasser that doesn't belong on this planet.
Wayne is in Metropolis to help rebuild, and wants to pull his sources with Luthor's and believes working together would better serve the citizens of Metropolis and Bruce is willing to put his differences with Lex aside.
This leads to Luthor feeling as if Wayne is invading his territory, because Lex Luthor is Lexcorp and Lexcorp is Metropolis. But Luthor also feels that he can use Wayne Enterprises for his own.

Also Flashpoint when he gets the letter from his dad, and while he doesn't cry he freaks out when he thinks Nightwing died in Under the Red Hood
