It's important to remember that the gap between the defenses Seattle has played, and the one's that Denver has played, spans most of the known universe. Also, yes, NO's defense was pretty good this year. Surprising but true. Teams don't get to pick their schedule, so the whole "yeah, but, they were never TRULY tested!" argument does nothing for me. We have the two number 1 seeds in football in the Super Bowl; Denver's just as deserving as Seattle, people. That had nothing to do with being "truly tested". People keep saying that Seattle's offense looked bad, and you have to remember that they played a good defense and then a great one. That's all I was saying.

15 wins total, no matter who they're against, is impressive. Moreno's X-ray came back negative so he should be good, and I think Peyton and this receiving core matches up very well with the Legion of Boom. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but I think we have more of a chance than you realize. This isn't a team of chumps who're getting led to the slaughter, this is the best Bronco team there's been since the late 90's and it's the reason we're in the Super Bowl. Seattle's offense has been trash lately outside of Beast Mode, so we match up very well on both sides of the ball. I'm not expecting Manning to throw for 400 yards like he did today, but you're not giving Denver enough credit and you're giving Seattle way too much. Kaepernick did okay against the LoB, so I'm sure Peyton will be fine. I'm sure the media will come up with a million reasons why the Broncos will lose, but nothing can ruin my mood right now. I've never gotten to see this Bronco team in the Super Bowl (I was 6 last time they went) so I'm excited as all hell. No, the media will find a million reasons why Manning will win. You have a very jaded, biased opinion of how Denver is portrayed by the fans and media. It just has no basis in reality. Again, Denver hasn't been setting the world on fire offensively, and this is the weakest defense the Seahawks have faced since the Giants in early December. Denver hasn't faced great defense, the best they went up against this year was the fraudulent Kansas City defense. This is a beast they haven't touched all season. These past pages have been filled with reasons why Denver won't win. My opinion on this subject is very firmly rooted in reality. EDIT - That's not a "woe is Denver; nobody believes in us!" thing either. That's not what I'm saying, but to deny that people are discrediting what Denver can do is just silly. It absolutely exists, but I'm not saying that the team is worthy of pity. That might be how it's coming across, but I'm just pointing out that it exists and it has all throughout the postseason.

All year people have tried playing the "just punch Denver in the mouth" line and all season teams have tried and failed. One more team gets a shot but they'll be lacking the 12th man that has gotten them numerous penalties, saving their asses a lot. We'll see where it goes but nothing I have seen in this Seahawks team makes me think they can keep up with Peyton. That defense will hold firm for awhile but what are they going to do when it is 7-0 in the third, offense cannot move the ball and Peyton just put together another 7+ minute drive?

That wasn't directed at you or anything, I just meant I'm against that mindset as a whole, no matter what team it is.

Are we back to trying to paint Denver as the underdogs? Just because people are saying there are ways Denver could lose or that Denver hasn't played a defense as good isn't the same thing as everyone writing them off. Early odds has them favored to win a close game, they're the favorites, it doesn't matter if people dare to talk about other teams, talk about the strength of Seattle's defense, it doesn't change that Denver is favored.

C'mon, let's stop with the Denver martyrdom can we? The Broncos have been awesome all year, and for the most part touted as such; no reason to try and paint some weird victimization where there really hasn't been. They were favored today, they'll be favored in the Superbowl, they've been favored all year, and rightfully so.

If Denver won a 50-40 defenseless game, I'd be a bit worried.
The way they played defensively against Brady/Rivers has to be considered.

I feel like this thread is ESPN trying to drum up a storyline for the next two weeks. Why?

@jeffdarlington After the chat we just had with Richard Sherman in an empty locker room, I can't wait for you to read @mikesilver's column tomorrow.

Denver's offense has been pretty good but not outstanding the last few weeks against pretty good but not great defenses. Good enough to win and I don't see that changing. And pretty good the first three quarters to atrocious the in the fourth quarter. They looked weak and beatable when they should have been putting teams away. Seattle just looks like they're playing a tougher, harder game.

@mikejurecki Super Bowl would be the 30th straight game Broncos have been favored (25-4 straight-up and 20-9 ATS in the prior 29

BRV, slickness, you're my buddies and I've been a lot less caustic in posting about the Pats and I hate to rub it in, BUT...
You both ran for more yards than Blount and caught more passes than Amendola.

Please check my edit; I'm not saying that literally nobody on the face of the Earth believes the Broncos can do it, and I realize that might be how I'm coming across. However, the mindset that Denver hasn't been questioned and everybody says that they're going to blow out their opponents is equally as ridiculous. Perfectly sane; just passionate. Like I said, I started watching in '05, so my Bronco watching years started with disappointment and it's been disappointment for years and years. I'm just ridiculously excited, brother.

It's understandable to a point. But theres no group of analysts or others who think Denver doesn't stand a chance. I don't think they do, and as a Pats fan I also said Denver would win today. I could play the easy game and say "OMG A CLOSE ONE" but it's just the way I feel. BTW, 9 years of disapointment is laughable. As a Boston fan who started watching sports in 1987 I had a good 15 years of loserville hell before any wins.

Seattle's offense has looked completely lost the last month. They have to keep up with Peyton who even against that Seattle defense won't be slowed down that bad. Say what you want about how the 4th has gone for Denver the last two weeks but they still have to be close and nothing Seattle's offense has done makes me think they can be there.
