If he doesn't return at Slammiversary, then he is dead to me.

The way they dicked him around, there no way I would come back if I was AJ

I'm sure Styles is thinking about coming back to TNA every time he get a phone call from Bill Beherns telling him about his next booking. Why would he want to come back to status quo and a smaller paycheck?

To do what?
He was shown very explicitly that there is a glass ceiling to where they will push him. If he comes back, he will just be doing groundbreaking things like feuding with Daniels again. You know, fresh stuff like that.

TNA had the chance to provide closure a few weeks ago and have a bonafide TNA legend put over Magnus. They decided to go with a clusterf*** that only benefited 2 people who won't be on payroll by the end of the year.

I love AJ too, he's one of my favorite wrestlers. But I think right now, he should simply work on being top dog of the indies until WWE pretty much HAS to sign him like with Punk, Bryan, and Cesaro.

He'll be back. All of this is a part of a "huge" storyline IMO. He probably re-signed before leaving.

I believe it was a work. The unification match sold me. I also think it benefited AJ, Magnus, Dixie, Bobby Roode, Daniels, Spud, Bro Mans etc. it was not a cluster ****. Multiple run ins get that and since the Internet wanted a clean AJ styles victory, they were going to be pissed at any thing else. Every heel in the company got in their spot or their finish against a world champion. The world champion who is supposedly leaving, got made to look like superman after he kicked out of every heel's spot and or finish. It damn near took at atom bomb to put him down. Magnus gets to get lots of heat as a heel champ by winning by hook or crook. So long as they don't do it for his entire run, it will work. Dixie Carter got her heel boss gimmick more heat. Bobby Roode had a stand alone moment as a gang of mixed heels watched on. AJ comes back, Bobby now has a jumping off point after AJ beats Magnus and gets his heat back.
I could be wrong. But I have a pretty good track record. I explained to this board how Bobby Roode would lose to Kurt Angle at BFG and why it was necessary. I told you he would turn heel and win the world title and that it would make him a solid heel and a main event, it did. I told you who "they" were...but so did everybody else so maybe lets just stick with one example for now. Anyway, I could be wrong. Only time will show it. He won't be back anytime soon, but I think he will be back this year

honestly he doesn't really owe them anything anymore if they balked at signing him after all the work he did for them over the years. he can probably make more money on the indies/Japan if he really wanted. doubt WWE would be interested given his age, but he should be fine without them.

Yeah, AJ is one of those guys who can make 3-4k just to show up and another 500-1000 in merchandise. Even at just 1 booking a week that's probably more than TNA was paying him.
Plus, if this rumor about Jeff Jarrett opening something up is true then I could see AJ going there.

Not sure on specific numbers, but yeah, he is going to be one of the biggest name in the indies right now, probably, being someone with a good following and some TV exposure. TNA is in a transition and to make a better offer than that would have probably been a strain.

Man, he's gone. I have no idea why people think it's a work. When has a wrestling company done that? Let a guy go, let him work another program's television shows and had him secretly under contract the whole time?

If even 25% of the backstage rumours about TNA are true and they were f***ing stupid enough to give him the biggest push of his career in his last month with the company, then I don't blame him for going back. There's doing something for the fans and then selling yourself out entirely.
