Not from WM30, but from the event in general.
Seems like it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people (no surprise) so no matter what WWE does, a lot of people are going to be unhappy (again, no surprise) because it doesn't fit everyone's idea of what it should be.
So I'm curious what people want and expect from wrestling's biggest annual event.
I have seen a lot of sentiment that suggests people think only full-time regulars on the roster should participate (although most everyone's No. 1 must-have match is another Undertaker streak match, and Taker is the very definition of 'part-timer') -- that any use of someone who isn't a full-time regular takes away some deserving roster member's rightful spot.
But I look at WM history and I see celebrities (from Mr. T to Floyd Mayweather to Snooki) and tons guys showing up who had been away for some time, or who hadn't been regulars (not just the Rock -- heck, Andre the Giant's only match in 1987 leading up to WM3 was in a battle royal, Bret Hart coming back, Vince and Shane McMahon, on and on). In fact, you could argue that WM was practically built on the premise of reaching outside the regular roster for star power, or for a special attraction match that that you wouldn't see on weekly TV or even on a regular PPV.
I see people who expect "fresh" matches between competitors who have never faced off, or only done so a few times long ago, or have never been paired before at WM. But some of the biggest and best matches in WM history don't fit this definition. And I'm not sure how realistic that can be, considering that most everybody who has been on the roster for any length of time has crossed paths with everybody else. And when the rumor of a match like Cena-Bray Wyatt comes up, even people who don't want Cena near the main event seem critical.
To me, Wrestlemania is a spectacle. It should produce some great in-ring matches, wrap up some storylines with payoffs and create an angle or two that can carry forward. It should involve talent that can garner the attention of the casuals, in hope that they walk away as potential new fans.
What are your expectations of what WM should be? And how can WWE meet those expectations?
