I vividly remember on this very board the place lighting up the night of the WWE No Way Out 2009 pay-per-view. Easily the most heralded non-big-4 pay-per-view since ECW One Night Stand, from top-to-bottom it was praised on here for not only great action, but being an instance of an entire show with a running card being entertaining. Every moment seemed to matter as Edge lost and won a major championship in the same night.
While both Money in the Bank 2011 and Extreme Rules 2012 have kind of over-shadowed its legacy in recent years as, not only have they happened more recently, but look stronger on paper, I do think there is something to be said for No Way Out 2009 being such an excellently constructed show.
It gave us both satisfying conclusions to long storylines, as well as put wheels in motion on the road to Wrestlemania like no other February pay-per-view before or since. It's just a shame that some who haven't seen it outright dismiss it as "the pay-per-view where Mike Knox was in the main event."
What do you recall about the night this aired/ your first time seeing it? Have you watched it recently?

Haven't watched it since it happened but I remember it being very good. Both Chamber matches were entertaining and I really enjoyed the Edge twist. The two singles matches on the card were also pretty decent with good build behind them.

Loved the Chamber matches, but I didn't like the singles matches at all really. JBL was clearly done at this point, and while he tried to work the story well, it was just a meh match. Shane/Orton made Orton look like way too much of a joke considering that he was the top heel in the company at this point. He should have obliterated him, instead of winning out of desperation. I much, much prefer No Way Out 2001.

Great PPV. To be honest I have enjoyed most of the Elimination Chamber/No Wat Out (with EC matches) PPVs. They are one of the most consistent gimmick matches and ppv's in quality for me (can't wait for tonight)
I really enjoyed the 08 one as well. HHH vs Hardy vs Jericho Michaels vs Umaga vs JBL being one of the best chamber matches on paper ever for me and living up to the hype with everyone putting in a great performance. Taker vs MVP vs Batista vs Finlay vs Great Khali vs Big Daddy V was better than I ever expected it being and some truly brutal elimination spots with Chokeslams galore from Taker (off the top of the pod to MVP and over the top rope and onto the grate for Finlay)

A bizarre show that saw Triple H and Undertaker open the card whilst Mike Knox main-evented.

It was weird, because this show was at the same time stale (Triple H winning, Edge winning) and fresh (Cena getting eliminated early, Mike Knox in the main event)

Haven't seen it in a while, I remember the Chamber matches being both really good, but I can only barely recall the rest of the card. Also goddammit that was 5 years ago already.

I remember flipping out when Edge took out Kofi and entered the Chamber. It was really well done, IMO. I don't really remember the other matches, but those two chamber matches worked so well to tell that story.

I remember the Chamber matches being pretty good and the thing they did with Edge losing the first one only to sneak his way into the second one was pretty cool. I don't really remember a whole lot about the other three matches.

Mysterio was incredible in the main event. One of my all time favorite performances from him. The last stretch with Edge/Jericho/Mysterio was really well done.

It also had Orton/Shane, back when Randy was a white-hot heel. Great PPV.

The 2009 Raw Elimination Chamber is my all time favorite which is weird given that Kane and Mike Knox were part of it. Mysterio was on fire all throughout 2009.

I don't remember it being a particularly stand-out PPV, and after looking it up it and reading a few recaps/reviews it doesn't seem to have that reputation as being one of the greatest.
Considering it was only a few years ago I don't have much of a memory of it (I don't know whether that's says more about me or WWE's PPV's). Some things I do remember: •The chamber matches are pretty reliably entertaining for me and these two were no different. I liked Edge's reveal in the Main Event (pretty clever) even if it did give away the ending somewhat. I also like when Chamber matches feature non main event talent (like Mike Knox here, or Masters/Carlito/Santino). •I think it was one of the first times a "Main Event" started the show which I thought was weird and didn't like. •This was when Swagger had a lot of potential and looked like a future Main Eventer. •I hated the HBK/JBL feud; what a bore fest. An HBK PPV match that sucked.
I can't remember the Orton/Shane match at all. I may go back and watch it (I'm re-watching a lot of Shane's matches at the moment).

I said it in another thread, but it was the best booking Cena's ever had. Last man in, comes out looking strong as f***, takes a clean job without looking like a chump. What a pair of chamber matches this show had.

One question: Why the hell was Mike Knox in the main event? (I wasn't watching WWE at the time.)

This is by far my favorite show I've ever attended live. The crowd was electric all night, and my section popped HUGE for Cena's elimination. I also love that I got to be present for one of Edge's career highlights. That's pretty special to me.

One question: Why the hell was Mike Knox in the main event? (I wasn't watching WWE at the time.) A warm body, basically. IIRC, during this time, Knox was getting a decent push a midcard heel on Raw.
