Survivor Series 1999 was dreadful. Coming off some decent PPV's leading up to this, it was just bad. Booked like one week before the show IIRC and just featured random matches that made no sense. Understandable some of the early Survivor Series matches had weird pairings but this was a car crash, and the ending with Big Show winning after the Austin angle was horrible.
Godfather/Dlo/The Headbangers vs Dudleyz/Acolytes
- Dlo was coming off a good run but was clearly being depushed because of Droz
- Godfather was Godfather
- Headbangers just g9ot back together when they already ran thier course
- Dudleyz were brand new
- Acolytes were not over yet and I found them to be heat killers in 1999
Bulldog and MSP vs Val Venis, Steve Blackman, Gangrel and Mark Henry
- Hated the Bulldog/MSP pairing, hated this Bulldog run.
- Where not both teams heels?
- None of these people had beef
Womens Sudden Death Match
- Terri and Debra were not wrestlers, Mae and Moolah couldnt be trusted in the ring
- They kept it brief but it was bad
Big Show, The Blue Meanie, Funaki and Taka vs Big Boss Man, Mideon, Viscera and Albert
- No wonder Big Show killed his team mates what horrible back up.
- Boss Mabn's team is the pits of 1999.
- This whole angle sucked
Kane vs X-Pac
- Was what it was, decent. Beginning of a dragged out feud.
Chyna vs Chris Jericho
- Was cool to see Chyna win the belt as it was "different" but she should have been a transitional champion and lost it the next night, this dragged Jericho down.
Too Cool and The Hollys vs Edge, Christian and The Hardyz
- Probably the most appealing match on the card
The New Age Outlaws vs Al Snow & Mankind
- Was what it was.
HHH vs The Rock vs Big Show
- Show was such a poor choice, they should have just kept it HHH vs Rock. Show winning the belt was random and just poor, it gave HHH a decent break from the belt but really did it matter? He was still the focal point.
Thats 10 matches announced on the fly other than the Main Event. They could have streamlined this much better. I would have liked it had they gone back to the original Survivor Series 5 on 5 Format this year with a few singles matches sprinkled in.
Main Event - 5 on 5 Tag Team Elimination Match
HHH, X-Pac, The New Age Outlaws and The British Bulldog
vs.
The Rock, Steve Austin, Kane, Test and Mankind.
- With Austin out they could have had Shane O-Mac replace him on the babyface team since he had beef with Bulldog (hurting Stephanie the previous month) as well as HHH, and was buddies with Test at this point
- You have Kane/X-Pac feud starting
- Rock and Sock Dynamic who had been somewhat fueding with the Outlaws, as im sure they face off at the next PPV
- Test had beef with Bulldog as well as DX
- Also you have a big portion of the PPV dedicated to the hit and run which takes up time, but this match as the potential to go over 30 minutes.
- I would have Rock and Test as the sole survivors, this gives Test enough rub to set up a Test vs HHH main event at Armageddon which Stephanie turns heel on Test (and Vince who would be the special guest referee)
10 on 10 Tag Team Elimination Match
Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, The Headbangers, Kai En Tai and Too Cool
vs.
The Hollys, The Dudley Boyz, The Acolytes, Mideon/Viscera, The Mean Street Posse
- Move Too Cool to the face side since they were on the verge of a face turn anyways, I think Kai En Tai were quasi babyfaces at this point anyways since they were on Big Shows team.
- This would go 30-40 minutes with it being pretty stacked just as the 87 and 88 versions did
- Edge, Christian and Hardyz survive since they were in the midst of a push
5 on 5 Elimination Match
Chyna, The Big Show, D'Lo Brown, The Godfather and Al Snow
vs.
Chris Jericho, The Big Boss Man, Val Venis, Mark Henry and Kurt Angle
- This is a pretty mixed dynamic mid card match, with everyone having history.
- Chyna/Jericho fueding, Bossman/Bigshow, D'lo/Mark Henry, I think Show/Venis had some sort of history around this point that involved Mankind. Godfather is just there
- Hype up Kurt Angles debut as they did and you have him interacting with Jericho on his debut as heels which would be fun
- Jericho and Angle survive setting up Jericho getting the title next month and Angle getting his push. I would have Bossman eliminate himself running from Show like he did in the actual PPV
- This would go about 20 minutes
Four Corners Womens Championship Match
Ivory (c) vs Luna vs Tori vs Jacqueline
- Ivory retains in about 6 minutes
Singles Match
Rikishi vs Stevie Richards (with The Blue Meanie)
- Rikishi gets the Kurt Angle singles PPV debut since Angle debuts in the Elimination, that way he actually does debut on the card where Austin is hit, I would keep it somewhat comedic with Richards and Meanie both taking big bumps from Rikishi, keeping it lighthearted after the hit & run
- They would go about 8 minutes or so
Ok so still not the most epic of PPV's but I think everyone is used more efficiently for that time period, and you've set up Armageddon nicely
WWF Championship
Triple H vs Test (w/Stephanie)
- Guest Ref: Vince McMahon
WWF Tag Team Championship
New Age Outlaws vs The Rock N Sock Connection
WWF IC Championship
Chyna vs Chris Jericho
Kane (w/Tori) vs X-Pac
Nightstick Match
Big Show vs The Big Boss Man
No.1 Contender 8 Tag Team Battle Royal
(Acolyltes, Hardyz, E&C, Dudleyz, Kaientai, MSP, Hollys, Headbangers)
Too Cool (w/Rikishi) vs Stevie Richards and The Blue Meanie
Triple Threat
European Championship
Val Venis vs D'lo Brown vs British Bulldog
Six Woman tag Team Match
Ivory, Jacqueline and Luna vs Debra, Miss Kitty and BB
Kurt Angle vs Steve Blackman
