TNA isn't going to get that level of slack, just by din of who they are (the much younger, less established company), along with the fact that they've often blown chances to garner greater good will in the past (e.g. blowing Samoa Joe's hot streak, never fully pulling the trigger with their "younger" talent until it was arguably too late, overbooked main event angles being way too constant, constant changes in creative leadership, etc.). Is that right and proper? I'd argue "right" or "wrong" are totally besides the point: it's simply reality. Yeah, TNA for some reasons hasn't grasped the concept that trying a big quick fix, doesn't fix anything. They brought in Angle and immediately had him beat Joe clean in the middle of the ring. Yeah, it popped a buyrate, but it stopped Joe's momentum and they could have done a bigger buyrate if they waited. Think about it, they keep them apart for a few months while Angle takes the title, Joe gets his shot at Angle, and wins the title in a 25-30 minute match. Fans would have been even more pumped about the match, because it's Angle vs Joe for the title, they know the match is going to go awhile, and it's Joe's time. That's been their biggest feud in the company, and it features a guy that TNA dropped the ball with. Let's look at wrestling history. The WWF was getting creamed by WCW, but they didn't do the quick fix. They built up their young stars, and that guaranteed long term success. EY beating Magnus for the title doesn't do anything for the company. It's a "The title can change hands on Impact" moment, but in the long run that doesn't help TNA.

It's a WCW moment. Hotshot a major match or a title change in an attempt to pop a rating or get people tuning in. Thing is, match wasn't promoted and it didn't get people to tune in the following week.
