I had to laugh at the absurdity of FOX apologising for a film poster depicting Apocalypse strangling Mystique. Saw that as well. This is just pathetic now. Scary thing is, all these sloganeering Outragists and Moral Guardians and washouts like Rose McGowan have done is push the social pendulum so far that, when it finally swings back, it's going to impact with the force of a meteor strike. And they're Ground Zero. I want to pity them...but I want popcorn more.

Okay just finished watching it. Pretty much everyone was spot on with the mystique-plotation. Apocalypse still looked too much like Ivan Ooze and it's crazy how some of the characters have literally one or two lines. Yet I'd put it slightly above Batman v. Superman. I'm still not sure what Psylocke's purpose was in the film. So she's a horsewoman, but why were her powers necessary to Apocalypse's plot? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Also not sure why Jean has her phoenix powers so early.

Having now seen Apocalypse and Turtles 2, the super hero/comic book movie rankings for 2016 so far are
Civil War Deadpool (could be #1 depending on the day you asked me) X-Men Batman v Superman Turtles 2 (as if it would be anything but last)

Which is a shame, because the stinger of this movie being some Shi'ar astronomers/scientists being like "Sir, we've detected the destroyer!" and setting up the real version of The Phoenix Saga as the next movie would've been way better than the vague Mr. Sinister nonsense we got.

Which was the original idea for the Phoenix in general before they decided to make it a space parasite thing.

I thought it was pretty decent. Nothing stuck out as being bad, but it was definitely a step back from DOFP and First Class. One thing that did bother me, though it's not specific to this movie but how such instances are dealt with in movies in general: {Spoiler}Magneto had his wife and child killed in front of him, yet after the film's climax, set a very short time later, he's making jokes with Xavier and walking out with a smile on his face. Even a line about needing time and space to grieve would've helped. I'm still not sure what Psylocke's purpose was in the film. So she's a horsewoman, but why were her powers necessary to Apocalypse's plot? Psylocke, Storm, and Angel really have no purpose in the film beyond being obstacles in the final battle, and Magneto is the only horseman essential to his plan. Hell, Xavier is more essential to his plan than those three.

From what I have heard it kinda sounds like this should have been a Horseman movie leading to an actual Apocalypse movie later...

Its more that Magneto shouldnt have been a horsemen there should have been another mutant because once he became one it was the Magneto show and Apocalypse was no longer the main character.

Since he saw that, he decided not to try to block Jean's powers, but instead to teach her to control it, embrace it, and unleash it. He wants her to use the powers to keep Last Stand from happening.

Yet Charles Xavier acts its like he's thinking "wacky old Eric was just up to his crazy tricks again, lol."

Okay I was trying to explain to me wife the space parasite version of the Phoenix and I called the space empire the Tal Shiar. That's the intelligence organization of the Romulan Empire in Star Trek. Once she pointed that out to me I couldn't think of the correct name. Glad I was close.

The fact that your wife knew that the Tal Shiar were the Intelligence Agency of the Romulans tells me you are a very lucky man.

The Tal Shiar used to work at a pet store listening to a big dummy tell terrible jokes. Then they worked with the Obsidian Order to destroy the Founders.

I love the opening part of the movie. Sucker for Egyptian stuff. My 5year old niece was also saying "En Sabah Nur" and doing the bow down motion. she is so adorable.

isn't that who played Rocky's wife? If you do not already have children, than go get some boy. You are dad joke ready like no man before. Better than that, you are nerdy dad joke ready
