Mystique is becoming the one with the most exposure at the expense of the others that Wolverine was. You'd think that from the advertising campaign and the fuss being made, but the reality is she's barely in this, and it's not a case of "When Mystique isn't on screen everybody should be talking about her" either. Literally the only things of importance she does in the movie are {Spoiler}{Spoiler}rescue Nightcrawler in the opening act, and talk down Magneto in the third. There are several scenes of young mutants looking up to Mystique as an iconic figure (Storm has a poster of her in her room) and she's clearly been given the official title of field leader of the X-Men in the final scene. This isn't people launching ludicrous complaints about Black Widow outshining the entire Avengers team, it's pretty obvious they made Mystique a big deal simply due to Jennifer Lawrence becoming an A-List actress.

And neither of those things change that she's only the fourth or fifth most important character in the movie. They've obviously raised the profile of the character because of Lawrence's stardom, but only in the most superficial way possible.
