I want to see Bryan handpick his opponent the same way that Cena chose him.

We may see the return of an Aggressive Competitor to the title scene

Extreme Rules: vs. Kane Payback: vs. Batista Money in the Bank: vs. Batista & Randy Orton Battleground: vs. Cesaro SummerSlam: vs. John Cena Night of Champions: vs. Bray Wyatt Hell in a Cell: vs. Bray Wyatt Survivor Series: vs. Brock Lesnar
I think Brock vs. Bryan for the title at SummerSlam is too soon in my opinion. Because Lesnar is on an extremely limited schedule so he'd have to drop the title before WrestleMania most likely. They won't have a wrestler who only works 3 or 4 matches a year hold the WWE Title for 8 months. I'd prefer that Lesnar gets the title at Survivor Series instead so he can hold on to it until Mania to let either Cesaro or Bryan ideally win the title off of him at Mania.

I actually don't think he needs a heel right now. Just have him be a fighting champ, taking on other faces and shaking their hands before matches and stuff for a few months, and in the meantime build a heel for him to overcome at Summerslam. I think Fighting Champion Bryan is the most optimistic perspective, and one I'm very sympathetic to because I really like that approach. I'd love to see him wrestling a different guy every week on tv, face or heel, and putting on great matches with a litany of people like Bret was doing in 1992-1994. I've wanted another reign like Bret's ever since, and it never seems to happen. Bret's was the only title reign that really worked like that. Punk would've been perfect for it, Bryan would be too.

The only one I can think of is Christian in ECW with that belt. Made him my favorite wrestler who was still going at the time (he's still my favorite with WWE but he's so rarely wrestling and hasn't been given much to do when he is, certainly nothing like his ECW title days).

Bad News Barrett and the Miz. I refuse to believe Barrett doesn't still resent Bryan over his Nexus betrayal and Miz is treated like an afterthought while his NXT rookie is now the Man.

I just came in to bring up Miz.
There's considerable history there, and actually giving Miz SOMETHING to do could light a fire under him.

The problem with the Miz is that there's no way for Bryan to go from beating HHH, Orton and Batista all in one night to doing any sort of selling for the Miz as a threat. The Miz just isn't at that level. If it were presented properly they would work hard and it would probably be decent but ultimately there'd be about as much drama as Goldberg showing up to spear 3MB.

Sheamus seems like a no-brainer to me. a heel turn would freshen him up a bit, and he's a great opponent for Daniel Bryan. the only problem is that those 2 have already fueded a few times before.

Miz isn't a threat at first glance, but in the past has shown that he goes into fits of violence whenever he wants attention or feels overlooked (Cena, losing a TV match to Riley, Awesome Truth, that awful "Iceman" phase). If the Miz/Ziggler/Ryder alliance comes to pass, that gives Bryan some more "odds" to overcome.

I'm sure there are plenty in Brie's shoe closet. I think the red open-toed ones are ready for their push.

Damien Sandow is being wasted getting KO'd by Big Show I say. Have him rail against the Yes Movement on the mic and wax philosophic about how he should've beaten Cena for the title when he had MITB if not for the Cena fans giving him irrational power. Parlay that into the Yes-ers giving D-Bryan Hulkamania-like powers and how irrational/illogical that is, and Sandow is feuding with a main eventer that he can seemingly pin in Bryan (versus someone he couldn't even hope to beat injured like a half-dead dog like SuperCena).

Just can't see Miz, especially after Bryan beating HHH, Orton and Batista.
MAybe he'll have another match with Orton, because Orton didn't eat the pin. I'm thinking they go for the Sheamus turn, have those two feud for a bit. Wyatt beat him clean, so that's antoher step, but with how this Cena feud is going I think that Wyatt is going to lose his stock. Cena for "respect" because they like that kind of shit. Cesaro is getting over, so he'll probably be on of his lat challengers. Then Brock could kill him and take the belt, shit have HHH give Brock the title shot, and then after he wins, have Brock kill everyone, until *NEXT BIG FACE* or D-Bry returns and slays him.
I like the fighting champion idea too, because Bryan has so many people behind him it doesn't really matter who he faces, because he'll get cheered over them.

It should be Sheamus. They have a ton of history, and Sheamus desperately needs something to do. Plus, the matches will be great.

Bryan's reign probably won't be long enough for this to become a legitimate problem though.

It shows how, not exactly disliked but discarded Miz is that the first mention of him brings about 'huh? no.'
The history would make it worthwhile and it'd be better than Kane, who no believes is winning either. The matches would be better as I don't think Bryan and Kane have much chemistry as a opponents.

I really think Kane and Miz are equally terrible choices for DB's first title defense. Unless they're going for a scene like this down the line: HHH: YOU AINT BEEN HUNGRY SINCE YA WON THAT BELT! Bryan: Whaddya talkin bout, I've had ten title defenses. HHH: THAT WAS EASY! Bryan: Whaddya mean 'easy'? HHH: THEYWAS! HANDPICKED!
