Question- in the NFL, does it seem like most games are all about matchups?
Some people talk about rivalries, or having someone's number, or homefield advantage. But I look at it like boxing- Styles make fights, if you will
The 49ers, had they made SB 48, could have played Denver 10 times out of 10 and I don't think it's 43-8 regardless of outcome.
Seattle had blazing defensive speed. San Francisco's defense is a little slower. The 49ers secondary, while good, isn't the Legion of Boom. SF's defense hit hard, but seemed slow.
And of course, the Seattle fans made lots of noise at MetLife. 49er fans didn't exactly bring the noise to the Superdome 2 years ago.

Even with Bowman out, Seattle's linebackers weren't as good as San Francisco, so there's that. Also think how many times Peyton is getting knocked on his ass when Aldon Smith is rushing him. Both San Francisco and Seattle could score fast, but that wasn't their style. Only one team in the AFC showed they could take the kind of physical, nasty play the Seahawks, Niners, or Panthers would have dished out, and that's Indianapolis. But the Colts were so damn inconsistent, they could beat Seattle and San Francisco at their own game, beat Denver, and then have trouble with Houston and get the shit beat out of them by Arizona (a fantastic team, and yes I think they make the playoffs this season). Denver hadn't seen anything like that all season, and were completely overwhelmed by a team whose philosophy was "We're just going to run you the f*** over, and when you get up we're going to run you over again. And we'll also pop you in the mouth. You're getting our best most physical vicious shot, you better bring it." The Colts game was something of a shootout, and the Chiefs were a paper tiger defense whose stats were padded by playing bad teams.

Panthers RE Greg Hardy has been found guilty of assault on a female and communicating threats.
TMZ reports the person free agent WR Titus Young is accused of attacking earlier this month was his own attorney.
The attack reportedly took place at a "medical treatment center" in Los Angeles. Per TMZ, Young is also accused of attacking four other people in the past two months, all at the same facility. Young's mental health appears to have deteriorated to a dangerous state. He could be more likely to end up in a treatment facility than jail.

Cowboys released QB Kyle Orton. Did he simply not file the paperwork to retire? How can you release someone who has retired?

The Colts were still a little young and still need to build up their O-line. If they can keep from having the salary cap issues and can find a real center, they will be a brutal team to play against very near in the future.

My early prediction is that they are the AFC representative in the Super Bowl. They've got the favorable schedule to get the 1 seed in the AFC. Denver has 4 games against the NFC West, New England's got an improved Miami and an improved Jets in their division, and Cincy well, they're the Bengals.

Patriots DT Armond Armstead has retired from the NFL. As far as I know, there's no actual evidence that Armond Armstead exists. He's a modern-day Sidd Finch for Patriots fans. An urban legend created to tantalize legions of Patriots supporters around the country.

Look at the 2008 Chargers- #1 ranked offense/defense against the easiest schedule in the league- MISSED THE PLAYOFFS Look, it's a catch-22 situation. Not every team can play a 2008 Steelers schedule. Is it KC's fault the NFC East was what it was?
