Anyone else remember this, when Yokozuna first came into the WWF, after he'd wrestle a match, Fuji would hand him an envelope after the match had ended. I'm pretty sure this continued at least until Wrestlemania IX. Here's a pic of him holding it after winning the Royal Rumble: Was there an explanation for this. All I've seen of this time was the PPVs and a few early Raws on the network, and I've yet to hear any of the announcers even reference it. My assumption is that he was giving him his paycheck, but it's really odd that it happens every time but no one mentions it.

I assume that's probably it, I can't even recall it.

I think the pay check thing might be right. Yokozuna seemed to be a rather special client for Fuji back then because he was unstoppable, unlike Fuji's other chump clients.

It's a sumo wrestling thing. The winner gets an envelope containing a check from the sponsors. The "winner's share of the purse money" if you will.

I forgot all about this until you brought it up. I remember watching this as a 4 year old now.
My guess is that it was a paycheck.

It was a gift certificate to Red Lobster. Yokozuna loved him some cheddar biscuits.

I always found cool that they went the extra mile with the sumo gimmick, doing little things like this or the women giving flowers

It was his light bill. Fuji moonlighted as a bill collector.

Yoko is suddenly found at the Japanese Parliament asking suspicious questions. Upon investigation, it turns out he's Neil Hamilton in a fat suit.

It contained a scrap from an ancient scroll. Yoko wins a match, Fuji gives him the scroll, the scroll being a map that showed him where the warlord that killed his master lives. Fuji ultimately doesn't want Yoko to go because he fears for his soul. Revenge leads to an empty life.

In Japan it's an ancient custom to pay a victorious warrior in either used schoolgirl panties or tentacle porn, no word on which was in the envelope though.

I take my hat off to you sir for your completely out of leftfield joke!
