Since the current RAW commentary team gets so much flak, let's have a round of voting to see who would you rather do commentary on WWE's flagship show from their current crop of announcers.
I choose the following:
1. Tom Phillips: Normal looking, normal speaking voice. Perfect to be a non-overbearing play-by-play guy.
2. William Regal: Dry English wit plus experience in wrestling makes him good for color IMHO.
3. Renee Young: Something different to have a woman on commentary. She and Regal seem to have good chemistry, plus it would be interesting for Diva matches.

Regal and Renee have a great combination of wit, wrestling savvy and ability to get people over. Plus they have the rare ability to talk about the damn match.

It won't make a great deal of difference who's commentating as long as Vince is backstage, screaming at them through the earpiece and demanding that they talk about anything but wrestling.

Just Cole and King. If they desperately need a 3rd person so badly then either Regal or Renee just for something different.

Definitely Regal - having him on the Raw team would be enough alone to stop me switching on the "Football Mode" feature on my home cinema system that silences commentary and leaves in just the background noise.

At the William Regal stand up show someone asked him why he is not on RAW doing commentary. He said he doesn't want to do it as you have to be someone else and have many different voices in your ear, not only from wwe but USA. He says he has a lot of respect for the guys who do it now and it is a very very difficult job to do.
He says he likes doing NXT as he can just turn up, be himself and say what he wants.

Cole and Regal. Cole is still the best play-by-play guy they have when he's switched on. People forget that Cole just parrots what the company makes him say. Anyone on play-by-play on the main show will be more or less the same.

The thing I am wondering is...
Is there a way for someone to balance it out? What I mean, is it possible to do commentary according to Vince screaming in your ears without coming across as obnoxious or annoying as the current RAW team?
Or does doing commentary Vince's way turn everyone equally into mute button material?

Everytime that I watch NXT Regal is stumbling over his words it seems.

Cole, Renee and JBL. The issue is with Lawler. It's ALWAYS Lawler.

Micro Cole, Jerry Smaller & JB-Elf.
Sad that the littler counterparts did a better job than the big boys.

Cole and JBL are the best announcing combo the WWE has ever had, and it is not even close. The big question is who the third person, should be Renee is my pick because I absolutely adore her but she is very unproven.

Regal and Renee may be my favorite commentary team-up in years, but I don't think they'd work on RAW because of exactly this reason. Regal is too soft-spoken and Renee goes off on her own mini-tangents. It makes for a fun dynamic on something taped and edited like NXT (and it may possibly work well on Smackdown, too), but I bet on the super-produced live RAW they'd just be spitting out awkward lines all night about TWERGIN MAGGLE
