Called it; officialfan.proboards.com/thread/487733/wwe-2014-predictions?page=1&scrollTo=10233864Gloating aside, I kinda figured he was gone for good when he walked away. I just couldn't see any reason for him to come back past monetary gain and that doesn't seem like something Punk cares much about. I'll always remember Punk as the guy that smartened me up to the business. It was his Straight Edge Society gimmick that did it, I remember hating him and I don't even know why, I'm mostly straight edge myself. At some point I realised oh hey, he's meant to make me hate him... he's really f***ing good at his job and that's what I began to appreciate him. It's all been downhill from there, f*** you Punk for taking my innocence away!

His last singles match on TV was against Billy Gunn lol. And kayfabe wise, Korporate Kane was the one to retire him.

He's not retired. Or at least he's not permanently retired. No way. This isn't some huge update. He took some time off, and he'll be back someday.

I still think there's more to it. In the last real interview he did, he was talking about this mystery illness that couldn't be diagnosed and how he kept getting bloodwork done and this that and the other. He left a week later, and WWE has made zero attempt to slander him or make an angle out of his departure. I'm really beginning to wonder if he doesn't have some sort of disease and wanted to get out and enjoy his life. I hope I'm wrong, but you never know.

I am a Punk fan for his great promo and in-ring skills, but really, I'm not too sad about this. First, I feel like it's one big work-in-progress--not intentionally designed to be a work, but definitely one of those things he will change his mind on once he gets bored and feels better; he'll return for a huge pop whenever. From what we know, it's not as if the guy is in Edge shape or old. He's still in (or around) his prime. If he can go in the ring, he'll come back somewhere.
The other thing is that Punk accomplished everything he could, save for a WM main event. Great matches, huge pops, marquee events like wrestling the Rock in a solo match or Taker at a Mania, got a long-ass reign, got a huge crowning moment, sold a lot of merchandise, did a lot of publicity and got his name out there. What is there left for the guy to do besides a WM main event? Feud with a same batch of guys--Bryan, Cena, Big Show, Triple H, maybe Kane, Orton, probably Batista and the Shield--he has already done stuff with? Again, I'd be happy to have him back, but there's no real pull.

His contract was to run out in July. I don't see him coming back for anything other than a huge Mania program that's the true main event and I'm not even sure he'd care about that. Maybe he would come back for a bucket-list match with Steve Austin.

Have they addressed CM Punk on TV since Heyman came out to his music in Chicago? Nope.

He gets out of the business, with health relatively intact before his body breaks down and does lord knows what kind of damage to him long-term, and I'll assumed with money saved so that he can pursue other endeavors that won't ruin him like wrestling could (on all sorts of levels beyond physical)............ Good for him. Salute, Charlie Magnus or whatever the CM is short for.

Good on him. Keep making the carny fanboys paranoid about this being a 'work' and just enjoy the vacation.

So glad I got to see him wrestle. Even if this is a delicious work, I hope he's happy. Usually retirements are only fake if there's set off by retirement matches. Only two wrestlers in the entire history of wrestling have lost retirement matches and actually stayed retired. Shawn Michaels and who else? This is an odd situation, because a LOT of Punk fans seem to be ok with the idea of him not coming back. I feel the same way. Of course I would like to see him wrestle again but aside from a true WM main event and a match with Shawn Michaels or Kurt Angle, he has done everything I wanted to see in WWE. I just don't like him never getting a proper sendoff.WWE should at least promote Kane as being the guy that took out CM Punk for good.

He actually didn't mention retirement himself, just based on the story there.
But even if he did, I'd be fine with it. He doesn't strike me as someone like Funk,Flair, etc that NEEDS rasslin.
It's entirely possible dude wants to do something else at this point.
