Heh, I was actually starting to miss the guy a little bit, but as long as he's happy that's all that matters. Best wishes, brah.
He had his "Ugh, go away" moments with me, but the great stuff far outweighs the bad and I'll always remember him as the guy who brought me back to rasslin'.

It's funny how all the wrestler deaths in the 2000s have changed fan's opinions on matters like this. Back in the day, the IWC would be livid over people walking out, myself included. It's very telling, in this post-Benoit landscape, how we treat a situation like this versus when Austin walked out or The Rock went to Hollywood. How f***ed up is it that it took, not only, a wrestler dying but him killing his wife and young child for the business and its fans to have a clear head about these kind of things. Wrestling is a beautiful, captivating art form, but it's kind of poisoness as hell. I was fine with Rock leaving too. It's always been weird when people think that wrestlers owe them something. It's a job; and if they don't want to do it any more, they don't have to. Benoit being a murderer has nothing to do with that.

Okay, if this is the scenario that happened: Punk: Vince, I want to headline Wrestlemania. It is the only thing I haven't done in my career. Vince: That is never going to happen. Punk: Then I have nothing more to work towards, I've done everything else, and I want to get out with my health still intact, so I'm done.
Then I have more respect for Punk than I've ever had.
edit: and given that Punk's last match was getting eliminated at the Rumble, I now want a gif where he is eliminated from the Rumble and falls into a black hole, never to be seen again.

Reading this forum, where even the people who don't like him are going "I'm happy for him and I hope he does well", is yet another reminder of why this is the best message board community I've ever been a part of. Some of the vitriol at other places is incredible. You folks are great.

He's pretty much done everything so if he really is retired, good for him. At least he gets to leave relatively healthy and with his body intact . Punk is probably my favourite wrestler of all time so I'm happy to see him leave on his own terms.

I remember another superstar Chicago athlete that "retired" only to come back a couple years later... So what you're saying is CM Punk is gonna help the Looney Tunes from an alien takeover in a wrestling match where they steal the talents from the world's top wrestlers? I'd watch that. Phil Brooks & Bugs Bunny in... Space Slam!

AJ must be crazy in the sack. Soon as he he hooks up with her he can't handle the load anymore.
He's nagging pains are probably due to what they get up to.

It'd be worth it if only to see CM Punk go off on the Monstars so bad that they decrease to their normal size before they even get to have their big match. Hit 'em with a Puh-puh-pih-po-puh-pipe bomb puh-puh-Punk

If gone I'm glad I got to watch him. I do not think this is it for him though. A Jericho like series of runs but I don't think he is gone for good.

If this is it then selfishly I'm a bit disappointed. You can say Punk had done everything (and he had done a lot) but I still felt there was a lot of entertainment left in him. So I'm kind of disappointed. But at the same time I'm truly happy for him. The guy owes me and the rest of the fans that got to watch him absolutely nothing. He gave his absolute all for almost 15 years. And regardless of whether you watched him from the start or only saw him at the very end of his WWE run he did his best to try and entertain you. So if he is gone for good I'll miss him but I sincerely hope he enjoys the rest of his life, he deserves it.

The only thing CM Punk hasn't done is make a white baby!

I'm not sure Punk's going to do this type of thing, though. IIRC, one of his legitimate complaints were people leaving, coming back, etc. Although, to be fair, that may have been more about those people being put straight into the main event and/or winning championships than them actually returning if they were putting people over.

The only thing CM Punk hasn't done is make a white baby! considering his rep for being a total man-whore I wouldn't be surprised if there's at least a few kids across north america who bare a startling resemblance to one Phil Brooks.

I'm a huge Punk fan. As such I hope he's retired for as long as that makes him happy whether it be for a short while, long while, or forever. He doesn't owe anyone anything. I am interested in what he does now and would enjoy seeing him in some capacity again, so if that happens I'll be thrilled

He seems happy and is doing charity work so good for him. He gave us some great matches and memories. Will he stay retired that's on him. I will say thanks for all he gave us over the years he spend with us on TV or in the indies. It is what it is.

Shawn Michaels and who else? Your boy, Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan wrestled in the indies several times in the early 00's and he cameback to WCW in 99 with the Varsity Club.

Good for him, if what Foley said about his health is true, then he made a wise choice. It doesn't matter if this is temporary or not, it's good to see an athlete and performer consider their health first.

And what was his indie career in the 00s like? Starcade 99 he was officially in the match. The Varsity Club teamed with Duggan against The Revolution. It was Douglas, Saturn, Malenko, and Asya vs. Duggan, Steiner, Sullivan, and Routundo. He wrestled in 3PW (Blue Meanie's fed) Where I think he wrestled Sabu, Dusty Rhodes, and Adullah there that I can recall of the top of my head.
