Alright!! I'm really excited about this, I absolutely loved MK9 and am really anxious to see what they'll do with the Shinnok storyline as it is generally regarded as the weakest part of the MK franchise, but since they managed to make people like Nightwolf and even freaking Stryker with MK9, who knows if they'll managed to turn the tables on that as well. You take that back! Stryker was always great! Also if this is supposed to be a concept trailer for how the game will play, I'm not too sold on the constantly switching camera angles. Heh, I liked Stryker, and Nightwolf too for that matter, but it seems most people had an irrational hatred of the guy. I'm not sure why, I guess maybe the fact that he looked like a caricature of the "Xtreme Kewl 90's badass" but then again, let's not kid ourselves here, Mortal Kombat was pretty much always a time capsule of 90's edginess, at least during the SNES era. One complaint that always confused me about him is that for some reason people seem to think of old-school Stryker as a poor man's Johnny Cage, which I really don't see. What, is it because they both wear sunglasses? Looks like you'll be able to use the enviroment to attack your opponent, just like in Injustice. I'm hoping they bring Drahmin back, even though I'm pretty much the only person who liked him. Looking forward to seeing Frost, as well. If that's any consolation, I really liked Drahmin as well. And f*** yeah, I hope they get far enough into the story to bring Frost back as well, I found her story particularly interesting and I thought she had the potential to be a major player before they kinda-sorta rebooted the story.

Looks pretty damn awesome. Should be interesting to see how they do the story this time. Some of her attacks in that scene didn't even look that lethal. Yeah, some folks just get punched and stay down during that scene. I mean, I know she's all powerful and stuff, but the shit these guys survive all the time, one superpowered punch shouldn't be enough to kill 'em. I just took that as just another example of characters being stronger during cutscenes (and fatalities) than during gameplay. Kabal shouldn't have suffered life-threatening burns from Kintaro's attack either, and Jax's arms probably wouldn't have been vaporized by Ermac's psychic powers.

Well, you knew that they wouldn't have a main series game again without both of those guys.
Like you guys, curious on the roster. I could see some of the ones killed in story mode coming back with the idea that during the story, they work for Quan Chi as trapped souls or something.
Also wonder if any of the DLC from the last game will become regular roster this game.

So is it going to be like SF3, where they brought back a couple characters with otherwise a completely new cast? Because considering the crap they ended MK9 with, I don't see how else they could do it. Are you kidding? The MK fanbase routinely throws bitchfests for every new character in the series since MK3.

I missed it...did they with Skarlet? Freddy I'm sure they did even if he was a guest character, and I don't care enough about Kratos to ask if they did or not.

They still have all the characters who debuted in MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon to work with, plus the spin-offs. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time they brought characters back from the dead so they may well bring back some of the OGs despite killing them off. Hell, it's basically Scorpion's entire backstory.

I'd love it of they knocked it off with story modes that force you to play as characters you don't give a shit about. Just pick a guy and go. I do not want to slog through a bunch of fights as Nightwolf or some other crap character just to get to something else. I hated Injustice for this as well. I'd rather just pick someone I actually like and stick with them for the whole game, not an unsatisfying "chapter" of about 4 fights, then forced to use someone else.
At least Street Fighter hasn't resorted to this.

Stryker's always been a great character.
I personally always thought the idea of an average cop guy going up against Ninjas, Robots, Shokans, Minotaurs etc was pretty bad arse.
so he uses a gun.. Big whoop, Other characters fire stuff from their hands, give the guy a break.
I'll be disappointed if he isn't in this game.
Wonder if they will go down the Armageddon route and keep all the Characters from 9 and just throw in all the 4, Deadly Alliance and Decpetion guys.

To be fair, I think this is great because they can actually tell a story by having you switch characters and, from previous games, you're never with one guy long enough for it to get boring or frustrating if you're playing with someone you don't like. Also, found this quote interesting: And here's the cover art:

First off, loved the song in the trailer
Secondly, here's hoping for Li Mei, Darrius, Kobra, and Kira
Lastly, I know the main storyline of Shinnok, DA, Dragon King, Armageddon, but this will be cool if they mess with the idea of Hotaru vs. Havik, Order vs Chaos
As a matter of fact, how will they explain such storylines such as Shujinko and Taven/Daegon?

And here's the cover art: Sweet! Again, I really, really dig Scorpion's redesign. It looks like a good modernization of his MK1 look. Also I didn't mind the way they did the story mode in MK9 at all (well, maybe aside from the absurdly difficult final fight against Shao Kahn). To me, it felt like it was a tutorial to all characters that actually had a point. Besides, if you just want to fight using your favourite characters, you can always just use the ladder mode.

Well, maybe if there was a single one in the bunch that isn't Quan Chi or Kenshi that didn't suck donkey balls... But seriously, it's kind of a huge difference in the group of post-MK3 good characters vs. bad characters. As much as I'm joking above, IMO Bo Rai Cho is the only one besides those two in the "good" category, and even that's a hard sell. Frost at the time was a good way of going "Okay, here's all Sub-Zero's other moves" but now that they have normal Sub-Zero and Cyber Sub-Zero (who will likely both be in the game because everyone loved Cyber Sub-Zero and let's be real here, they're not making a game without regular Sub-Zero) she's kind of redundant. And everyone else is either too bland or a stand-in for one of the original characters.

Deception was just chock full of lame characters, and the best part was that none of them really even factored into the plot. A lot of them were like, "This guy's role is to kill a character who actually matters."

They made a bad choice with the music for the trailer; it does not fit Mortal Kombat.
