See, the thing I don't like about early match enders is that they're gonna have to look like they're more devastating than the X-Ray moves, many of which, to be honest, could probably serve as fatalities in any other non-MK context. So far they do look more *ahem* brutal, but it's gonna be a fine line to tread.

I think the way it works is when you do a certain throw or combo that would end the final round, the Brutality finishes them for you. So, it's not ending the fight early.

Wow!! I don't know why but the trailer/Cassie's era of the story mode screams Saints Row 4 meets Mortal Kombat to me

So this basically confirms that it's essentially Mortal Kombat: The Next Generation?

I started not-so-psyched about this game, but I'm turning around on it. I just hope the story mode doesn't end with a "screw you", forcing you to use Raiden against the final boss on a higher difficulty. I was no good with Raiden to begin with, so it felt like a big "f*** you".
I'll back off on assuming all these characters are playable that have been revealed. MK has played this song before, especially in Deception's story mode, where there were a good handful of opponents (MK veterans, at that) that weren't unlockable. When I see actual 2-player VS gameplay of people using the likes of Shinnok and Shang Tsung, I'll buy into them being in. I'm definitely not putting much stock into the flashback scene with Johnny Cage and Shinnok.

I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be someone completely unexpected, yet there all along, and that Kotal Kahn is kind of a red herring final boss.
I'm also very curious who the Sub-Zero in the trailer is since he looks nothing like the Sub-Zero that's been revealed so far. And that's not even getting started on Scorpion.

Ok this game is looking even more sweet now.
We seem to have a case of MK 2nd generation stars here but I'm liking the looks so far
I do like how some characters are starting to age
Already had a brief play of this game back at London Comi Con
Looking forward to more
And I'm glad their not shying away from the violence

At this point, I think Liu Kang would be too obvious, and I'm pretty sure Ed Boon already said it wasn't him. Not that that means anything.

Cassie's model in this video is giving me hope for the women's designs. Not only does her outfit look cool and make sense and does not have bloody stilettos but it seems whoever is in charge of character design has finally learned how female body proportions work. Seriously, I'm not sold on her as a character yet but her design does look great. I am also amazed by the level of detail in the maps. I mean, they were already pretty impressive in MK9 but just look at all the stuff going on in the background during the Kano vs Cassie Cage fight in the Outworld marketplace. There are plenty of NPCs and beasts hanging out and walking around, it makes it all feel very lively (come to think of it, making the MK universe feel more alive seems to be a theme with MKX, with the comic exploring the lore, the story spanning two generations, the factions war, etc). You kind of want to pause the fight for a little while and just look at all the little details. It's also nice to take a look at the civilian life of Outworld people, and it's rather surprising to see a Middle-Eastern style in their clothing and architecture when most of what we've seen so far has been far-Eastern in influence. Also, I do find amusing that they all seem so unfazed by two heavily armed people fighting to death in the middle of a busy street. Just a regular Tuesday in outworld. Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, that's how they worked originally as well. OH MY GOD MILEENA'S NEW OUTFIT LOOKS SO F'N COOL!! Almost makes me wish I were a woman so I could cosplay it. Also, she too seems to actually have female proportions now. So yeah, I think we can safely say there's a huge improvement as far as the women's designs go. I also like the fact that she's getting a more important role in the story. It always seemed weird to me that she and Kitana are supposed to be the princesses of Outworld, you know, the heirs to Shao Kahn's throne, yet they were always relatively unimportant to the story. Dang that trailer revealed like 9 characters. Well, Jacquie and Takeda have already appeared in the comic. In fact, Takeda is none other than Kenshi's son and Scorpion's pupil, so that is quite the pedigree. I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be someone completely unexpected, yet there all along, and that Kotal Kahn is kind of a red herring final boss. One element that makes me agree with you on that is that in the comic, Kotal Kahn appears to be willing to use diplomacy before resorting to violence. He obviously wants to rule Outworld but there's no indication that he is a threat to other realms. Hell, when you know his enemy is freaking Mileena, one of if not the most vicious and brutal characters in the MK universe, you have to wonder if he isn't actually kind of a good guy (well, as good as someone who eats human hearts can be anyway). As for who the boss actually is, the obvious would Shinnok or Quan Chi but my money is on Kitana considering as the video above points out, there's an evil version of her who can be quickly seen and it would be a rather surprising twist, especially since she's been depicted as a rather benevolent character so far. If not her, I could see Raiden turning heel again, or maybe the other characters finally realize everything bad that has ever happened to them has been his fault so they pile up on him and turn him into shishkebab. Also, theory time: maybe the evil Kitana is actually a fusion of her and Mileena? After all, she is covered in weird magical cracks and stuff so it looks like something pretty dramatic even by MK standards has happened to her and being magically fused with her sister could be such a thing. Although Sindel also has the cracks, so who knows? Finally, keep in mind that - once again according to the comic - the story once more focuses on the kamidogus and Shinnok's amulet appears to be significant... perhaps Onaga is back? Ed Boon posted this picture on his twitter with the message "Tomorrow ?" Undertaker and Mankind confirmed.

Ed Boon posted this picture on his twitter with the message "Tomorrow ?" Undertaker and Mankind Al Snow and Big Bossman confirmed. As for the Evil Kitana / Sindel, they have glowing green eyes and markings on them. The amulet had a big glowing green gem in it. I'm going to take a wild stab that they are under the influence of the Amulet.

So this basically confirms that it's essentially Mortal Kombat: The Next Generation? Like Saved by the Bell: The New Class, but with decapitations
