Oh, Nadiya. You know your gender comprehension is warped when JEFF PROBST is calling you out on it at tribal council.

Too early to tell, but did anyone get what could be a "winner's edit" last night, because I didn't see one. One possible one is that I noticed is the one of either Drew/Alec where someone pretty much calls him an idiot when constructing the structure. Total deja vu to Fabio

My pick is Jon, but the whole sad story about his dad has me feeling he pulls a Morasca. But that would be too obvious and Jeff wouldn't get mad

Going for Jeremy or true-mark-Wes early on for guys and Val and Baylor for the ladies. Loving the fresh cast thus far!

Finally got around to watching the premiere after a loaded week. They managed to check the boxes in the first episode of two of the three things I hate most in reality competition TV: alliances based only on gender, and going "oh he's gay, so he's basically a woman." The second Val uttered the words "all-girl alliance" and acted like it had never happened before, I wanted to headbutt a moving car. Thank god for the justice of Nadiya getting the boot after her comments about Josh. I swear if they'd managed to get a "good peoplea" alliance/"I want a good person to win" in there, I'd have freaked out.
Now I want Val and John Rocker out. As for potential winners, I'd say Josh and Jon are my leading two. Baylor seems like a possibility, but I didn't love that she'd blindly follow Josh for the vote. Character-wise I really like the Bros, Wes and Keith, and Dale. None of the women except for the twins and Val really got any focus in Episode 1. Jeremy seems like a nice guy and a competitor, but I think he's going to get obnoxious quickly with being overly protective of his grown ass wife. I see him burning out pre-jury.
Oh, and if Val faked going for a HII in the first tribal, that's about as boneheaded as it gets.

Something that's been on my mind: was that little blue token-thing from the water well a red herring, or could it have something to do with the idol (Remember, the clue on Exile said something about the water well)?

They managed to check the boxes in the first episode of two of the three things I hate most in reality competition TV: alliances based only on gender, I don't like them either but if one of my sisters or female friends was cast on Survivor or BB the first thing I would tell them is both shows in the last few years have changed and been structured to favor male contestants and your only chance at winning is to align with other women.

Wow felt like there was about 6 confessionals all episode. They must not like this cast to make an episode with 17 people left so challenge heavy

I'm thinking Rocker is the quitter. It looks like Jeremy is gonna expose his past next week after getting rid of Val (Not Rocker's fault. She should have never said she had an idol.) and John wont take it well putting him the spot of a villain. He's gonna think the game is unwinnable for him and quit outta anger

Hmm...not a bad episode, but at the same time, nothing much to say about it either. The epitome of "yep, this happened".
And as if given a cue from on high, John backstabs Jeremy for no real reason. Perhaps only to cement himself as the season's villain. Far as villains go, you could do worse than John Rocket, but I digress.

He didn't want Val to go, but once he found out she had no idol in the revote he had to do it. He told the guys she had one but with none to be seen he had to figure his alliance would vote out Val. Didn't want to be in the voting minority. So yeah he "backstabbed" Jeremy, but not by design. Next week he is gonna go all Brandon Hantz. Should make for great tv.
