Just came back from it. Had no experience with Guardians of the Galaxy before, but this is by far my favorite Marvel movie.

I absolutely loved it. I guess one of the main things I loved about it was that it honestly did feel like a comic book coming to life. Yes, we've had Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Avengers, and all of them were good to great based off their own merits.
But Guardians was just a full blown comic book film that was brought to life in a spectacular fashion.
That was probably the most fun cinematic experience I've ever had to be honest.

A lot of people thought Marvel had a flop on their hands but got a hit instead

Saw it earlier, and besides having to sit on the first row, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll be surprised if Chris Pratt isn't a big star.

The DnA run on Guardians was one of my favorite comics in quite some time so I'm quite familiar with and had high expectations for this one and was definitely satisfied. Laughs, action, heart...it had it all. Great summer movie.
And I certainly never expected to see what I saw in the stinger...

Saw it tonight. Soooo good. Best MCU film yet along with Avengers and Cap 2.
Pratt and Big Dave knocked it out of the park. As a long time wrestling & Parks & Rec fan this made me happy.

I could not agree more. I gotta say, I was relatively impressed with Big Dave. I was expecting absolutely nothing out of him and got quite the pleasant surprise. Also, Rocket is a f***ing bad ass and why don't I live in a universe where he exists?

You know, I wasn't going to do this, but I have to, my ego demands it. I'm just gonna post this and say I told you so. Nobody else was on my side, but I told you all so, so much SO. Maybe I'll finally get some respect after Ant-Man turns out awesome like I predict too. You posting this has helped me to solidify why I'm having so much trouble enjoying this film as much as everyone else. I was hoping for high concept Cosmic Marvel and really, aside from a blink and you'll miss it explanation of {Spoiler}Celestials and their use of the Infinity Gems, this wasn't that. That has made it great for the average movie goer and likely for the Marvel fans who don't really dig the cosmic stuff, but for me, because I am likely the biggest fan of that sector of Marvel (the older stuff anyway, not Bendis) when I didn't get that, I feel a bit deflated. Ant-Man will suck for me even if it is another huge hit. Poor Hank and Jan

Saw it last night and loved it! It is right up there with Cap 2 it was seriously incredible! The entire main cast was great and Batista impressed the hell out of me as Drax, it also had a great soundtrack. Any film that uses David Bowie that well deserves to make as much money as this probably will.
I think the biggest thing holding the movie back for me is that none of the villains were interesting which seems to be a recurring trait in Marvel movies. Hopefully that changes in Avengers 2.

Really? I disagree, especially with Loki in Thor and Avengers. Can't reveal the villain of TWS, but that's compelling too. And I would plead a case for Ronan from GOTG being a good villain.

Well Loki is the exception to the rule considering he's had 3 movies to develop. TWS' villain was good as well and I imagine he'll get even better when he returns, probably in Cap 3. I wasn't even close to sold on Ronan, I love Lee Pace but Ronan was super generic you could have replaced him with the baddie from Thor 2 and I wouldn't have even noticed.

Ronan served his purpose. Thanos looks good, and that's all he was doing here.....looking good for the next more fleshed-out appearance. And Nebula... {Spoiler}she was fine, though it seemed like a waste of Karen Gillan for quite a while......and then she jumped in a ship and became the villain who flees and lives to fight another day. And THAT made her much more interesting. That's all it took! I want to see her show up again now!!

Really glad it's doing so well at the box office. Such a well made film deserves it. Hoping it leads to more big opportunities for Chris Pratt and Batista as well.

$94 million dollar opening...that's absolutely insane. Is it too much to hope we get another strong weekend and the Guardians will dine on turtle soup? It would be a serious point of pride if the Guardians could take Bey down a peg.

I think it could be a possibility. Guardians has incredibly strong word of mouth and Turtles will have to count on a huge showing from families since most older fans of the Turtles probably aren't going anywhere near this one.

$94 million dollar opening...that's absolutely insane. I honestly think the movie did so well because its been a ridiculous weak summer blockbuster season this year. Like they released all the big hits and franchises in Spring/Early Summer this year and this might of been the weakest July I have ever seen for blockbuster. So people realized they haven't been to the movies for awhile and Guardians of the Galaxy looks a hell lot more interesting then any movie that came out of July hence the surprise hit. If Guardians of the Galaxy was released in 2015 it would probably bomb since 2015 is really stacked.

( I can dig that. I love cosmic Marvel too. But there were other nods to it, Planet Hulk had a few easter eggs in there. Cosmo was there. That aside, the reason people love this so much is despite being in the vastness of space this was the most intimate Marvel movie with the most relatable characters.

Yeah, I guess that just wasnt what I wanted from it.
I'm seeing it again Wednesday, and I'm hoping that on rewatching, like IM3, once I know I'm not getting what I want, I can enjoy it based more on what I am getting.
