Ron Washington has resigned due to a "personal matter." I get the sneaking feeling this has to do with his past drug problems. I wish him the best. GM Jon Daniels said his resignation is not drug related.

This Ron Washington thing is really strange. I'm listening to local Dallas sports radio and they carried the press conference. It sounded like Jon Daniels was on the verge of tears. And just now, they had the Ranger's beat writer on and he sounded the same way.

James Shields pitched eight and a third innings of shutout ball in the Royals' 1-0 win over the Yankees on Friday.

It is amazing what has happen to the A's Well, I did tell you guys that Oakland would be in serious trouble as far as going to the play-offs.

Soriano blew another save for the Nats Horrendous, Nats need to change closers. Thank God this happened in September instead of a potential playoff game. He has stunk since the All-Star break.

Konerko said he doesn't care if, during those last 3 home games, he just holds a bat, takes 3 strikes and sits back down, he will be out there. "It beats sitting around, doing nothing." He'll for sure miss the Oakland series, but he could become available for games after that.

Aside from that, he's Hall of Very Good.
