When the Minnesota Twins eventually hire a manager, it will be their third in the last 28 years. Tom Kelly was hired in 1986 and stepped down in 2001, then Ron Gardenhire was named the heir apparent.
I think Gardenhire would be the perfect bench coach for a team with a new or young manager, to kind of show them the ropes and serve as a mentor of sorts. I also wouldn't be stunned if he took a gig on Mike Redmond's staff in Miami, seeing that Redmond played for Gardenhire for five seasons.

Nationals had the best record in the NL and home field advantage throughout the playoffs yet they get the 12 or 3 PM timeslot on Friday. Come on...

Anybody giving the A's a shot against Kansas City tomorrow? I think Oakland has a shot. Fist playoff game in almost 30 years for the Royals...at home...that's a lot of pressure IMO. The problem is neither team can score so are they just fodder for the Angels?

Nationals had the best record in the NL and home field advantage throughout the playoffs yet they get the 12 or 3 PM timeslot on Friday. Come on... Well they can't put the Dodgers in the 12 game due to the west coast and all...and lets face it probable Kershaw pitched game they want on later when more are home from work. If you want late games gotta cheer for the Giants. This way you can get @sf games on later which benefits you, and honestly man...records don't mean too much when it comes to when they get put on...it's ratings. A Pirates/Nats series doesn't interest many people outside those 2 markets. Went through same thing 2 years ago. Reds won 97 games and got stuck on afternoon games the whole time. I feel ya but that's just how it is.

The same thing happened last year, for the Pirates/Cardinals series and it was really annoying. Inevitably one series in the divisional round gets a poorly timed scheduled, which makes watching and attending the games harder.

They're the best team no one knows about.

Konerko is getting a statue at The Cell. Is this a bit excessive? Considering Konerko has probably been the face of the White Sox franchise for a decade or so. Yes he deserves it. This is coming from a Cubs fan.

This is coming from a Cubs fan. I don't mind statues of long-tenured team stars. But I think retired numbers should be left to honoring the best of the best. I"m still baffled as to why the Sox retired the number of Harold Baines...while he was still active and barely halfway into his career, much less.

I am rooting with ever fiber in my being for KC to win tonight. Time to see if Big Game James lives up to his name. I want to see KC win, too. If only to see the much vaunted "Baseball Guru" Billy Beane's team fail to do anything meaningful in October yet again.
