Just saw this, it was good. But, I am sick of the WWF painting themselves as this poor down and out company vs just a checkbook. I don't think Vince every was vagabond. This. WWE was still very profitable during this period, and actually out spent WCW on production on like a 2-1 basis. WCW was losing money, WWE was making it. WWE's PPV buyrates were still bigger Also WCW STOLE all your stars? You mean like how WWE STOLE all of AWA's stars, and thus killing it. BUUUUT history is written by the victors. comparing Verne to Vince, I'd take Vince I think

The biggest disappointment, IMO, is that they used the same Bischoff interview from The Rise and Fall of WCW. That was actually the biggest disappointment with the Rise and Fall of WCW DVD, it was basically the Monday Night War DVD footage reused for the millionth time. They have interviewed Bischoff again since then, I think for some of the Warrior specials (where he has a shaved head), so hopefully we get some new footage finally. It sucks when there are always key people missing from these documentaries, I think Scott Hall has only ever been in ONE DVD (NWO Back in Black). The recent NwO DVD kinda sucked too because the only key guy they had to interview was Nash, everyone else was under contract at TNA I was surprised by how long the first episode was, if they continue like this it seems like the whole series is only going to be 3 or 4 episodes

A couple quick observations from last night's episode:
*Watch host DDP get older and younger again before your eyes!
*The scene where Hall & Nash beat up all those guys backstage at the outdoor show is pure hilarity. Everyone is screaming, and Mongo is screaming the loudest ("THOSE GUYS JUST THINK THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT!!!!").

OK I'm Confused. When does this show actually air? I just saw a post saying last night's show yet looked on the network and am not seeing it anywhere.
What's the damn deal?
I still haven't seen the 1st ep.

I still haven't seen the 1st ep. The person who said "last night's show" thought last night's The Very Best of WCW Nitro was the first episode of The Monday Night Wars. MNW is still not up yet.

I hope we see a whole episode on the Pillman/Austin gun angle, one of the first moments of the war where the WWF were "ok, we're not fooling around anymore".

man i have a feeling that we're gonna have to wait until Total Divas season 1 is over till they finally start showing the Monday Night War.
personally i'm hoping they'll officially start the series after Summerslam

Just saw this, it was good. But, I am sick of the WWF painting themselves as this poor down and out company vs just a checkbook. I don't think Vince every was vagabond. By comparison to Ted Turner, they absolutely were. I am as much of a WWE mark as anybody, but I cringe at the official story of the Plucky Outsider Who Took On The Big Bad Territories And Won. That also includes the If Wrestlemania Had Failed It Would Have Been All Over story. Vince and Linda had bought the largest regional wrestling promotion in the US in terms of population, potential audience, and venues with its main venue being Madison Freakin' Square Garden. Among territory-era talent, the territory was simply called "New York"', as in New York City. Even today, Hogan still calls WWE "New York". I've told this before but it bears repeating: there is a story in Bret's book that shows how much of an advantage that Vince had over the southern and mid-western territories. He accompanied Stu to the NWA Board of Directors meeting where Vince, representing WWF and Titan Sports announced they were pulling out of the NWA. Among the furor, Bret asks his dad "who do you think is going to win?" Stu says "if I were a betting man, I would bet on Vince because he has New York City and all of that potential audience". If Vince by himself wasn't a serious threat, then the panic among the NWA crowd wold not have existed.

Truth be told Vince would have been in trouble if WM 1 failed. there is a reason most people say WM 3 was a turning point since WM 2 was a failure

I remember in an interview Madusa claimed that Bischoff forced her to drop the title in the trash. Hart would never have done it and he had the clout and the money to tell Bischoff where to stick it. Really though, I'm glad others remembered Ric Flair showing up in the WWF with the World title.
There was a lot of shady stuff going on on both sides of the fence in that war, that's partly why we called it a war. Really, neither side is totally innocent. However, I'm sadly in Canada which means I won't get to see any of this.

Now I am hearing this show is just going to be a RAW the corresponding Nitro in it's entirety? So its not a documentary series or what? I don't get it, like I said earlier, the first episode covered like 1/3 of the entire time period so I don't see how they are going to make a long running series out of this

So are they going to start throwing Nitro up on Friday? It seems like they stopped with the putting up the Raws in order as of the first week of August '95. I thought Nitro started in September '95

The Rise and Fall of ECW DVD was a three-hour documentary, and in spite of glossing over some of the details and neglecting to explain how Extreme Championship Wrestling started out as an NWA affiliate that booked old guys like Jimmy Snuka, gave a lot of attention to a 10+ year run. The main fault of the DVD, of course, was that they used the "WWE gave the ECW guys chances, while the WCW stole them for nefarious purposes" excuse (although they did have the decency to let Eric Bischoff tell the viewers that this mentality is going to be prevalant and he wanted to speak the contrary, which was followed by Heyman saying "Bischoff is full of shit.") and making cases about how ECW made fun of WCW as a bunch of old, washed-up wrestlers while forgetting that the company also made fun of the WWF as a bunch of roided-up nincompoops who could barely do three moves. The Rise and Fall of WCW DVD was barely an hour and a half for a company that lasted a lot longer and had a lot more going on in its history (the Death of WCW 10th Anniversary book is coming out soon, that should provide even more detail). Sometimes I feel as if the WWE doesn't want to fully celebrate its rivals, never minding in the fact that the company basically did themselves in. It's an obvious statement, but it does bear in mind the fact that the war ended so many years ago and rather than grind the ax, celebrate the fact that this resulted in a paradigm shift that did wonders for your company and admit that the other guys had some pretty dang good TV, too. Yeah, the nWo DVD that came out last year was pretty horrid, as it was like the Attitude Era DVD which was merely a reflection on it rather than an exploration of how the idea came to be, how Eric Bischoff found out about the UWFi "invasion" angle with the company's relationship with New Japan, how Hulk Hogan was convinced, and any "mea culpas" they had. I'm hoping for a retake in a year or so since you got Hogan, Nash, Hall, possibly Bischoff, & Sting to explore this subject more in-depth. That said, I do want to see the episode, but I don't have the Network.

the Attitude Era DVD was the worst, what was it like, 45 minutes or something? The most important period in the company's history and it gets the shortest documentary of all of them. It makes no sense. Then you get a 3 hour long ECW story that is really in depth despite half of the key players not being in it
