Apart from some of his heel work in 1997 I have to say Bret is one of the most overrated of all time Hell apart from his match with Austin at Mania name one amazing Bret Hart match. you can't can you? He really isn't that good. Owen was the more entertaining of the Harts ...Satire, right?

He really isn't that good. Owen was the more entertaining of the Harts Why yes, I can name tons of amazing Bret Hart matches. Here's just a few off the top of my head: Vs. Perfect at Summerslam Vs. Perfect at King of the Ring Vs. Owen at Mania Vs. Owen at Summerslam Vs, Michaels at Survivor Series (92) Vs. Michaels at Survivor Series (97, people forget it was a great match with a crazy brawl to start) Vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania Vs. Bulldog at Summerslam Vs. Diesel at Royal Rumble Vs. Undertaker at Summerslam Vs. Piper at Wrestlemania The tag match at Canadian Stampede Most matches the Hart Foundation had with the Rougeaus and the British Bulldogs And that's just scratching the surface on great matches he had. You'd have an easier time naming major WWF matches Bret had that weren't good (like his Mania match with Backlund). I understand some people like him less than others, but to say he's only had ONE amazing match is downright absurd. Add Diesel at Survivor Series 1995

Last night was one of Bret's better nights in the 2010s. I wish WWE used him more sparingly and when it matters, Bret's whole legacy has been about being the best in the ring so to bring him out and watch him interact with other guys like that just isn't really the best scenario for him. If it were up to me he'd come around every once in a while, hold a tournament, or pick out a couple of guys and have them duke it out in a best of 7. Like every time Bret comes out it should have people on guard because he's gonna pick some guys to work some pretty seriously competitive matches to see who's carrying the flag for pure quality wrestling.

I don't mind Bret coming on RAW when they're in Toronto / Montreal / Calgary, whatever.
Bret was on local tv and radio promoting tonights SmackDown tapoings in Ottawa this morning. Both times all they could talk about was the Montreal screwjob and Owen's death. Sucks but it is what it is I guess.

I loved Bret as a kid but I sort of agree. At this point he doesn't really add anything to the show but I will never hate seeing him just because of the nostalgia. I do wonder if he had never had the stroke or the concussion issues how much he would actually be wrestling today. Obviously he wouldn't be wrestling a lot but I would wager that his match against Vince at Wrestlemania would've been an actual match and that he might have put the tights back on a few more times with some other guys.
Bret is 57 today, which means he was about 53 when he wrestled Vince at Wrestlemania. Assuming no serious health problems Bret may have returned a bit earlier than he did and could've legitimately had some dream matches before retiring fully.

He's awesome. I don't see why you'd find a problem with him OP. He's an actual REAL legend unlike the usual Hacksaw/IRS/Slaughter/DiBiase guys they keep bringing back. Three of those guys are on par with Bret. IRS isn't a bad name either.

Personally I love hearing the pop he gets from Canadian crowds.

I dont mind Bret, but im so sick of the Screwjob crap. They always find some way to mention it. The Screwjob is on the same level as Dx invading WcW, the horse is dead and decomposed stop beating it with the damn stick. People will always ask Bret about Montreal. It's a fact of life. Between watching his segment with Sandow and hearing him on CBC Radio this morning, I think he is far enough away from the Screwjob that he can actually make fun of it, which is what they were doing last night.

And yet at WM30, he literally was a face in the crowd with Backlund, Dusty and Race (he sure got the biggest pop of those guys, at least). I guess I'm old enough to actually appreciate the fact that Bret is on WWE TV again - you young'uns apparently weren't around for (or old enough to get) how unfortunate '98-'10 was for guys who enjoyed Bret on WWF TV... Ah well.

I actually didn't mind Bret last night. As long as he only comes out once or twice a year when they're in Canada and he punches out some goof like Sandow I'm cool with it.

Really wishing Bret never had that stroke, considering how well Taker worked from 2007 til 2013, it would've been greatness. Maybe not as good as their 1997 stuff but even then, Shawn/Taker managed to top that. It was towards the end of 1999 that Bret sustained a career-ending concussion during a match against Goldberg. Goldberg struck Hart with a stiff kick that sent Bret headfirst into the canvas. Bret would go on to compete in stiff matches against Kevin Nash and Terry Funk in the later shows to come being a part of the nWo 2000 group, until vacating the World Heavyweight Championship upon his departure from the company. In 2002, Bret lost mobility in his left side while riding his motorcycle, falling off and hitting his head on the concrete. After being deemed unconscious, he was taken to a hospital and told that he had suffered a stroke. “At three in the morning, Dr. Watson showed me the images of my brain. Pointing out a small jelly-bean-shaped spot on top of my head…I wasn’t quite sure of what the ramifications of having a stroke were…But he told me they couldn’t give me the miracle drug TPA because they feared my brain was hemorrhaging. If they’d only known sooner that my stroke was caused by a clot, TPA would have blasted through it and I might very well have got up and walked out of there…I couldn’t pick up a toothpick. I choked all the time because my lips and tongue were only half working” (Hitman: My Real Life In The Cartoon World Of Wrestling, pages 534 – 535). Bret was confined to a wheel chair throughout the year of 2002, and it wasn’t until 2003 that he began to walk again. Due to a court settlement dealing with Lloyds of London, Bret is banned from ever taking part in a wrestling match that would allow him to take a bump. Vince made a call to Bret in 2002 asking for him to be inducted into the WWF’s Hall Of Fame in which talks fell through in regards to Bret having a more physical role at WrestleMania X-8 (Kurt Angle wanted a match with Bret, not knowing of Bret’s stroke). He was later inducted in the 2005 Hall Of Fame and delivered an emotional speech. Other wrestlers like Axl Rotten who have had similar concussions that don’t have insurance, continue to wrestle in the independent scene. Bret would later make a return to the WWE (former WWF because of lawsuit with the World Wildlife Fund) in 2010 to make amends with former real life rival, Shawn Michaels. A career retrospective was released a few years earlier in 2006 titled “Bret Hart: The Best There Is/Was/Ever Will Be”. I agree with you, Bret's stroke is the main reason why his return to the WWE hasn't been as great as it could have been. I am sure that if he hadn't had the stroke that he would have been able to get back into shape and dye his hair black (If Sting could do it in 2006, I'm sure Hart could had he not had the stroke) to wrestle up and comers in ROH or even TNA, along with having a real return match at WrestleMania against talent like Angle, Michaels, Cena, or others. It was mentioned in an editorial on WWE.com in 2010 that Bret has issues lifting weights on one arm due to his paralysis. He has a noticeable limp when he walks down the entrance ramp. For a stroke victim, he looked good when he returned in 2010. When he dyed his hair black before WrestleMania, he started to look like the way he did in WCW 2000. He did a few good moves at SummerSlam 2010 and at a house show (he did the elbow off the top rope), after that he made sporadic appearances on WWE TV. His involvement at SummerSlam was better than his WrestleMania match, it was very Hogan in 2011 TNA-esque with a few punches, a scoop slam, and a chair shot to Skip Sheffield (now known as Ryback).

His appearance was far too inoffensive for it to bother me. He wasn't out there very long, hasn't appeared in a fair bit, and it was mainly because it was in Montreal.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of Bret Hart for you. Nobody will take away your precious Bret Hart. Tell my secretary I said you could have a free Bret Hart. She'll make everything all right. I promise.

This is true of all legends. WWE doesn't know quite when to hold back.
