Though it was one sided, this game was much more fun than the past few men's world cup finals.

And USA win 5-2. Japan was terrible, but at least they did not crumble after the first 20 minutes.
Now it's the men's turn to go win something, with the Gold Cup kicking off in 2 days.

I'm so proud of New Jersey's own Carli Lloyd for her performance in that final. Loved seeing her represent the Garden State with a hat trick.

Freddy Adu has left KuPS. Shame really, he seemed like he wanted to be here and was humble enough to play multiple matches in their reserve team in the fourth tier to build on his match fitness.

A pity, but also completely unsurprising considering his record. He's played for 12 clubs in eight countries across three continents in his 11-year career so far, so he's never really had time to settle anywhere. Hard to fulfil your potential when you're always on the move.

Freddy Adu update. Today he played in Finland's fourth tier, which is pretty much a high level amateur league. AFAIK it's him just getting game time to improve his fitness. Transfer rumours are also starting to pop up. Most interesting for me personally is the idea of Cabaye possibly moving to Crystal Palace. I don't think it's going to happen but I'd be more than happy to welcome him to the Eagles. Cabaye confirmed. Now onto signing a centre back and Charlie Austin.

This is a strange summer for players who I never thought I'd see leaving their particular club actually leaving. Schweinsteiger, Casillas, Xavi and Gerrard to name a few.

Never thought I'd see Bastian leave but, I don't hold any ill will towards him. How can I? A champions league title, eight Bundes and 7 domestic titles. It was a hell of a run.

Frankly, I'm more surprised that people are saying Schweinsteiger is past it and is a waste of a signing because he's about to turn 31, with Jamie Carragher leading that particular bandwagon.
Even a Schweinsteiger who's lost a couple of steps since his peak is still a world class footballer. He's in the same bracket as Pirlo, who continues to be one of the best in the world at 36.

The reason some are doubting the Schweinsteiger deal is because of his recent injury record, he only started 15 league games last season although that wasn't always down to injury.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Raheem Sterling looks like he's on his way to Manchester City for £49 million. Crazy money.

The premium on players from the home nations to make up quotas for European competition is ridiculous. Yup. It's absurd. On what planet is Raheem Sterling worth more than Kun Aguero or Alexis Sanchez? I think he's a fine young player with a ton of upside, but the premium simply because of the quotas is absurd. Ross Barkley is gonna go for for close to the same sooner than later. As for Sterling, though, maybe he should ask the likes of Scott Sinclair or Jack Rodwell or Shaun Wright-Phillips about too much, too soon. He's not even close to a lock for the City starting XI.
