I don't think he will fall into the same bracket as Sinclair, Rodwell, Johnson simply due to the fee. I think a more accurate comparison could be made with Milner.

Man City will position Sterling on the left side......of the bench, next to the bottles of Lucozade Sport.

The most surprising thing about Schweinsteiger is that he's going out with Ana Ivanovic. Lucky bastard, she's beautiful.

Don't get me started on tennis. I love it. I'm now in post-Wimbledon depression.

The reason some are doubting the Schweinsteiger deal is because of his recent injury record, he only started 15 league games last season although that wasn't always down to injury. It will be interesting to see how he gets on. If he was being brought in to play 50 games a season that would be a fair point, but he's clearly coming in to add a bit of depth in the middle of the park, which is something United desperately need as Carrick can't carry the load by himself and Blind is clearly better suited at left-back rather than holding midfielder. Considering the fee that's being paid for him it could be an incredibly smart piece of business.

If they got him for a couple of million (or possibly less) then that is an extremely smart piece of business. Bringing in an older, well-experienced midfielder who probably won't start every match but will add a bit of depth into a team that needs to gel can have superb results. Liverpool did something similar with Gary McAllister and he was the catalyst for the cup treble season. The wage bill might be a bit higher but offset that against a minimal (or zero) transfer fee and invaluable knowledge of the game and it's a no-brainier.

United signs Morgan Schneiderlin. He'll be with the team in the U.S.

I hope it does work out because I want the league to be much more competitive this year.

I hope it does work out because I want the league to be much more competitive this year. Well with Falcao, Van Persie, and Nani off the wage bill (freeing up a reported £600k a week) I wouldn't expect his wages to be a major problem. The league definitely needs to be more competitive this year. Chelsea haven't done much, but didn't have to - Cech isn't as big a loss as he would've been 12 months ago (and Begovic coming in will soften the blow), and Falcao is a like-for-like swap with Drogba. Liverpool have spent quickly and are likely to spend more now Sterling is on his way, though they run the risk of repeating last year's troubles. City will be up there again, United are continuing to rebuild, and Arsenal look to have solved one of their major problems of the last decade. It should be interesting.

Mexico and Guatemala are having a perfectly cromulent match in their CONCACAF match tonight. Apparently El Santo has risen from the grave to attend and a fake Rey Mysterio is also in the house.

Guatemala somehow hold Mexico to a goalless draw.
After 2 rounds of group matches, only USA and Trinidad and Tobago have guaranteed places in the quarters.

Canada isn't as rubbish at football as I thought they were. 0-0 draw against Costa Rica which they were really unlucky not to have won. Still, they're eliminated from the Gold Cup having not scored in any of their group games.

Quite surprised to see Stewart Downing is about to join Middlesbrough. He was one of West Ham's best players for a lot of last season and got himself back in contention for England.

I can only think that Bilic doesn't consider him part of his plans, which is why they're letting him go. The fact that he's dropping down a division is the bigger surprise to me.

Boro should do all they can to retain Patrick Bamford on loan. I'm sure they'll make another push for automatic promotion if they can.

Guess he wants to go back home really Middlesbrough is where he made his name, still only 30 though but guessing he wants to try and help Middlesbrough get back in the Premier League again.

Makes sense. And with how far England have dropped, Championship football doesn't necessarily mean the kiss of death for international aspirations any more.
