Samu of the Headshrinkers somehow is so forgettable that nobody bothers to think of him in this way. Rikishi won the IC title and went on to become massively over and feuded with Austin. While his former partner vanished into thin air. I'm sure there are more real "Jannettys" who have had a more substandard run than Marty.

A lot of this isn't helped by the way WWE always tried to split up tag teams that gain any traction in the hopes of recreating what happened with Shawn and Marty.
And haven't stopped. Because tag teams STILL don't matter.

Tito Santana's career went down rapidly after Strike Force, so probably calling someone the Tito Santana of the team should have more of a burn.

Scotty Riggs in the American Males. Ok, Bagwell wasn't on Shawn's level but Riggs just went nowhere. Scrub in The Flock, then that crappy Narcissist gimmick & nothing whilst Bagwell went onto the NWO, the WCW main event & a quick cup of tea in the WWE

Janetty didn't suck but wasn't great. He just had the worst luck when his chosen partner went on to be arguably one of the top five wrestlers in history. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Leif Cassidy It's funny, because I would have to argue that Janetty became the Janetty of the New Rockers as well.

No, but he did go on to become a pretty damn big star just a few years later while Janetty.... hell, I don't have the slightest clue where Janetty was.

Haha, I had completely forgotten his "run" in WCW. Probably for the best.

You mean when my dad says I'm the "Janetty" of the family I should take that as an insult? Well this changes things.

The thing that pisses me off is that most of the people called "the Jannetty" are nowhere near as good as Jannetty was.

I've always thought being referred to as the Jannetty was an insult.
In context, before the split there were a lot of people that thought Jannetty was the more talented of the two. Not to mention many people thought Jannetty would have a great singles career and was see equal to HBK.
Looking back Jannetty, due to his own fault, never has much success after the break while HBK became a legend.
Therefore, I see it as an insult as Jannetty's career suffered due to his own actions while HBK obviously worked hard and put a lot of pride in his work while moving up the card and became a legend.

It's so silly, Shawn Michaels had arguably one of the top 5 or 10 careers of any pro wrestler ever. And Jannetty is somehow a punchline because he didn't surpass THAT? Before you go feeling too sorry for him just remember that shoot interview where he heavily implies drugging women and having sex with them back in the day with an expression on his face like "ah the good old days!", piece of shit, Im sure there are many cases of this kind of thing from the old school crew that we have no idea about. I know this isnt to do with their wrestling careers but when I think of this kind of thing it doesnt really bother me that he has become a punchline.

Marty Jannetty is a punchline for many reasons that have nothing to do with his actual wrestling career.
I always saw him as being the equal of Shawn Michaels when they were on the Rockers. Both guys could wrestle and talk. I was stunned how how good they were as heels in Memphis.

As a kid, I saw them as equals during their Rockers days. As an adult, when I watch footage from the 1980s and early 1990s, I can pick up on the 'little things' and I can see how Shawn was better and showed more personality. Shawn showed more confidence and command during the non-wrestling moments like entrances, backstage interviews, reacting after matches or scuffles. Marty was best in the ring and I think just had a weaker personality outside of it.

They both seemed to have a lot more personality pre-WWE. When they dropped the "Midnight" from their name, any individuality they might have had before was lost for a very generic babyface gimmick. I never saw the Midnight Rockers until I got older, but to me Marty seemed to have more of a presence pre-WWE.
