Bam Bam Bigelow in WCW, he arrives and starts tearing up the place, calling out Goldberg. I know his run fizzled out, but he looked like an absolute beast. Technically, it was a return. He had been in WCW previously. He was re-paired with Humperdink there in 1990 where he was on a WCW PPV and a Clash of the Champions.

The pre-debut Goldust vignettes were mesmerizing like nothing they'd done in years. I knew after seeing him the first time that he was going to be a big deal. He could have been a bigger deal than he was. If he had his personal demons under control and kept clean, I firmly believe he'd have been a world champion at one point.

Kind of surprised no one has mentioned the Shield. They run in during a WWE championship match and lay waste to Ryback who was a big deal at that point. They made a big statement in a matter of seconds and now, they are arguably the 3 hottest stars in all of wrestling right now.

He was also a victim of timing, his character was already getting stale when the attitude era began, imagine Goldust debuting there. How about Edge? He ko'd a guy first night in, I remember thinking as a kid, how bad ass it was to send a guy on a stretcher on your first match, years later when I read his book, I realized it wasn't a good thing, and he actually got buried lol, had to wait some time before he had a match again, with Sable against Marc Mero and Jacqueline.

A star was born as 2 Cold Scorpio debuted in WCW as Ron Simmons' mystery partner at Clash of the Champions 21.

That wasn't 1-2-3 Kid's debut though. He'd been working the gimmick of a complete jobber for weeks up until that upset victory Shit, all this time I thought he debuted against Hall. He was cycling through names week to week. As I recall and can't be bothered to look it up, he was the Lightning Kid, the Cannonball Kid and a few others, always with Kid attached. He wrestled Razor as ones of these names, got the 1-2-3 and it was apparently Heenan who suggested the name 1-2-3 Kid.

Hard to argue with Desmond Wolfe in TNA. Probably helps a lot that Kurt Angle was willing to put him over and make him look a million bucks. Even not winning any of their matches didn't hurt as they told a story that Wolfe was clever, vicious and willing to do whatever he could to make his name.

Back then I said this exact same thing here in FAN(might have still be WC can't remember), and all I got in return was guys griping about how Angle didn't put him over because he didn't win. I tried explaining that getting someone over means more than a win in a fake match but it was pissing into the wind. Thank you sir. This was one of the things TNA did right. Back then they hit some solid triples, doubles etc. that scored some runners on base. I will gve them only a handful of home runs in the entire history of the company. Desmond's debut was a triple but they left him stranded on base. Sting and Jarret in 06 was a homer. Joe vs Angle in 08 as a stand alone was a solo shot. Unfortunately Joe's next at bats were strikeouts.

Texas Tornado.
He just walked out there and challenged Mr Perfect. It was funny though afterwards when the WWF pretended that they had no idea who he was.

I believe his debut was on Saturday Night's Main Event against Buddy Rose. Debuting on NBC television (back in 1990) was a pretty cool way to debut, but the actual debut was noting too special.

I also think when they amped up the homosexuality and turned him into a "shock" gimmick, they set a timer on the effectiveness of his character. There's only so many times you set out to shock people with the same stuff before, like Marilyn Manson, people figure you out and lose interest. They should have used more subtlety with Goldust and left him a creepy, mysterious androgynous guy. In the beginning I thought he would be like the new Undertaker, but after a while I was just like... "Oh, he just kisses men and then puts them over at the next PPV."

It's getting a lot of talk lately due to the nature of Lesnar's Summerslam match, but Vader's debut smashing Inoki really was brilliant, and reading up on the riots is pretty surreal.

BTW, here's the Humongous debut I was referring to earlier. Again, Murdoch was one of Mid-South's A-listers at the time, not by any means a JTTS: www.youtube.com/watch?v=et6by_SUEXE

I gotta say Tazz when he made his WWE debut One of the few times where the audience's pop was so big that Finkel couldn't even introduce him. I always thought that the whole audience in the msg shows is an internet smark.

I like to imagine Tazz's WWE career was that first match with Angle, and that's it. It's better that way.

Razor Ramon-those were the best pre-debut promos till the Wyatt Family.
Kane was a huge deal from the moment he debuted.
