Where the guy is make to look like a big deal from the start, let's not go into details about how his run ended up being, just the way it started. I'm also counting an established wrestler debut for a new company. I'm picking:
1. The 123 kid (Sean Waltman) upset victory against Razor Ramon, not only did it established him, but it also helped the perception that smaller wrestlers can be superstars.
2. Desmond Wolfe, in my opinion the greatest debut of all time, a new guy taking out the franchise guy on his first appearance.
3. Scott Steiner, 'nuff said.

That wasn't 1-2-3 Kid's debut though. He'd been working the gimmick of a complete jobber for weeks up until that upset victory

Vader's debut in NJPW. Show up, dethrone Japan's equivalent of Hulk Hogan, start a riot, kickstart your legacy in one evening.

One of the absolute best territory debuts was Humongous in Mid-South. Tore through Dick Murdoch in his debut match there, just an absolute one-sided squash, and at the time, Murdoch was a hot property that was in the NWA title mix.

I feel that Chris Jericho's WWF debut is the gold standard of debuts.

I feel that Chris Jericho's WWF debut is the gold standard of debuts. This But I would have to say Kanes in 1997 and Scott Halls in 1996 in WCW rank up there to

I feel that Chris Jericho's WWF debut is the gold standard of debuts. I think Brock Lesnar's was probably even better. If you weren't keeping up with OVW, it was mindblowing. It also said quite a lot that he debuted by interrupting a hardcore match and not bothering to even pin the champion. It said right away that he had bigger things in mind.

Also John Cena. Had no build or hype, debuted and took Kurt Angle to the limit. Got the crowd behind him and got an Undertaker seal of approval. Not bad.

Carlito Carribean Cool.
Homie just waltzes up to John Cena in his hometown crowd and absolutely disrespects John in front of fans and friends and goads him to a shot at Cena's US title. He then grab's Cena's own chain and uses his own symbol to win his debut him and earn his first championship

Bam Bam Bigelow in WCW, he arrives and starts tearing up the place, calling out Goldberg. I know his run fizzled out, but he looked like an absolute beast.

In a similar vein I know the Road Warriors manhandled a lot of top legends early in their career, which helped establish them. Not sure if they did it in any of their debuts for different promotions, but it wouldn't surprise me.

For some reason I forgot about Lesnar's debut. That was pretty bad ass, and the bad assity just didn't stop after that.

I feel that Chris Jericho's WWF debut is the gold standard of debuts. The funny part is that Jericho hated it haha. I liked Goldberg's with the Rock

The debut of the real World Championship belt in the WWF will always hold a special place in my heart.

Desmond's is a good shout. Hell of a way to debut someone, showed the confidence they had in him (a confidence Nigel had more than earned, mind). Sadly it would be squandered once Hogan & co. arrived. But still probably my favourite debut of all-time. But I say that with Nigel as one of my all-time favourites so maybe I'm biased.

Off topic, but I love Nigel, sad thing was he didn't got into the wwe by being truthful about his injuries, Daniel admitted that he lied a little bit, didn't disclosure everything like Nigel did, man f*** hogan.
Bryan's debut was cool too, from Miz calling him worthless, Bryan proving him wrong and taking Jericho to the limit.

Lance Storm's debuts in both WCW and WWE were pretty cool. As were RVD and Dreamer in WWE later that summer as part of the ECW faction of the Invasion.

The pre-debut Goldust vignettes were mesmerizing like nothing they'd done in years. I knew after seeing him the first time that he was going to be a big deal. He could have been a bigger deal than he was.

I just remembered those interview segments they did leading up to Sid Justice's debut. They would show Sid's face for a second then have superstars talking about Sid briefly. I can't recall them doing anything like it for anyone else. It really hyped Sid as somebody special leading to his introduction as the special referee for the match made In hell at Summerslam.
