I'm starting to think Cena's gotta have Hogan's old creative control veto power. I remember a Jericho interview where he said Cena changed the outcome of the Summerslam match vs the Nexus so that Team WWE won, which made no sense storyline-wise. I don't think it was the outcome he changed, he just wanted to do a finish and Jericho and Edge told him not to. He wouldn't relent, so they said, "f*** it, we're not gonna be out there for it" and let him do it and it sucked and killed Nexus off. Cena: I have the perfect way to push this band of the greatest act to happen in years by having everyone on my team get eliminated. I get thrown down on cement and get this instead of getting hit with the 450 splash and get pinned I make that whole beat down look like utter shit by getting up quickly and beating Nexus in a matter of 1-3 minutes. That should make Nexus looked credible. God I am a tactical genius.

I couldn't do anything but stop caring once Cena did the first german suplex I knew exactly what was gonna happen.

Moments like this make me wonder if anyone still enjoys the Super Cena act? Like, is today's John Cena as thrilling and entertaining as you thought it was back in 2005? I mean, geez. Cena was doing the same bullshit when Kelly Clarkson had a #1 hit. That's how long Cena has been doing the same thing, Raw in, Raw out. Cena was doing the same shit before How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Modern Family, Community or The Big Bang Theory existed. Before The Dark Knight, Snakes On A Plane, Avatar, The Marvel Cinematic Universe.....

That was some shitty, shitty booking. Don't really know what else to say. Are they seriously retards? Like really, this booking had to have been approved by several people before it was aired on television. I just don't understand how they can continuously sabotage their hottest properties. Jesus Christ, this was bad.

I've taken a second to cool down and thought about it. I will be absolutely okay that this segment happened if the Wyatts get back to dominating everything next week. I understand that the purpose was to show that Cena hasn't become a useless bitch after the Brock match, so he had to take someone credible out to do so. As long as the Family gets treatment that they are just that going forward, I'll let it slide. If they become jokes, I will not. I think there were other ways to do it. The Wyatts were red hot heading into Mania and it all came to a screeching halt once they got involved with Cena. Cena barely took them serious in his promos. The only win the Wyatts got were the awful cage match where Cena basically laid all three to waste and lost because of a child singing. And they won a 6-man where Big E took the loss. Have Harper and Rowan done anything of note or even won since that feud ended? This is basically John Cena in a nutshell, he feuded with a fast-rising three man stable for 3 months, and the only person he put over was a little kid singing.

Thing is, the gimmick being what it is, the Wyatts can do a really, really evil thing and get right back into the thick of things. I'd say that for most monster heels but in The Wyatts case I think Bray has to look like a strong competent leader in order to inspire devotion in his followers and potential recruits. Right now why would anybody want to follow him? Bray had done such a great job incorporating the techniques of real cult leaders into his act but the cage match and now this undermine all that. I think the only thing that could get them back on track at this point is Bray using recent events as motivation to start "tearing the walls of this place" and start a face feud against The Authority and WWE in general.

Box of toys booking strikes again. The Wyatt family are no longer new and exciting toys so they exist to be squashed by the favourite toy, but hey, there are plenty of guys in developmental to replace them toward the top end of the card when the Wyatts are engaged in heatless feuds with oneanother at the bottom.

The group as a whole badly needs something fresh, that's for sure. Bray's been going in circles in the ring and his promos for a while now, while Rowan and Luke have been losing a lot. Not doubting the effort but they've cooled down greatly even before this Raw.
Maybe this is the opportunity for the characters to kayfabe go away for a bit and try to rediscover their crazy dangerous side.

Hell, most of the roster can do something and get right back into the thick of things at this point. That's kind of what happens when nearly everyone gets crammed in at the same level of "Might win one week, might lose another, but nothing really changes in the end". It's all about the brand, right? Who cares about stars, people don't want to see stars, they want to see the WWE. It's like the Harlem Globetrotters or the Circus, you don't care who does the stuff you go see the brand! This way, all the wrestlers are the same, they can pay 'em the same and if they leave the company, they are nothing special. Horrible philosophy from the company. Pushes no longer matter. Yep. That's why I don't think Cena is a big draw. He is a face of a brand that draws. Someone mentioned Ronald McDonald and that's the perfect comparison. That's all Cena is. With guys like Hogan, Austin, and Rock, they were bigger than the brand. I think WWE is going out of their way to make sure no one reaches that level again, which is idiotic, but whatever. The even Steven booking and bipolar pushes don't help anyone.

I remember a Jericho interview where he said Cena changed the outcome of the Summerslam match vs the Nexus so that Team WWE won, which made no sense storyline-wise. Of course he does, you do not stay on top that long in wwe without having it. I should have posted this in this thread instead of the other one since it's more on topic and people are voicing similar opinions..so i'll just repost it What bothers me though is how much of a pass cena always gets for this shitty booking and running over people who shouldn't be run over. I mean look at the absurd amount of hate hhh has gotten over the years for squashing people...yet how in the hell is what he did worse than cena? Cena has at the least partial creative control over his character and yet he gets a pass in general by people blaming creative or mcmahon or something other than cena himself. He is the one who either came up with or went along with the absolute burial of 3 other talents that was not only completely unnecessary but mind boggling stupid. It's time people start blaming cena for this utter garbage we have seen from him for what seems like 3 lifetimes instead of always putting the blame on someone else. Meanwhile while he is burying people today, people will still complain about hhh burying someone 10 years ago and treat him as the devil. I mean c'mon. I'm not a big social media guy, but for those who are, I wish people would use it as a way to actually protest this horseshit they keep feeding us with cena. Wwe likes to constantly tout twitter and social media well then people actually should use it to organize something meaningful like spreading the idea of having crowds at every show turn their backs when cena comes out since they obviously don't care if people boo him. I mean imagine the image of half or more of the arena with their backs turned toward him. No amount of micheal cole covering for cena could excuse that act of defiance by the audiance (and customers) that is sick of seeing the same old shit from cena for over a f***ing decade and at the expense of everyone else too boot.

Maybe it's just me, but compelling storytelling would involve Cena questioning his abilities even more after Bray defeats him. Cena needs an angle where he can't win and knows it and his character grows.

Cena needs an angle where he can't win... ...and his character grows. This is the illogical reason why an interesting Cena will never happen again, as has been proven repeatedly since 2005. The only interesting Cena is one who goes down and doesn't come back for 6+ months and becomes a special attraction who goes nowhere near the main event.

If the point was to make Cena look strong why not put him against another tag team. Slatergator or what ever they are called. Just makes no sense putting them against The Wyatt family unless they have given up on them.
If Undertaker debuted in this day and age he would never have become the star he is.

So 90's Undertaker/Piper, I'm down for that Make him a physical Jack Tunney type, he can play to his fanbase, stay a good-ish guy, and then the WWE and his creative control won't have half as much chance to piss new guys career trajectories up the wall.
